Jen's Low Tech 10g Planted Tank

Well, I must say I am quite happy with the look of this tank right now. It's been up for just under a month, and I have seen a lot of plant growth. I am really happy with the Eco-complete, and if it weren't so expensive, than I would totally put it in my 90. But $25 a bag x 9 bags = ouch. Anywho.

I also picked up a new plant. It's called Hemianthus micranthemoides.. I just planted it in a bunch to see what it does.

Here's teh tank as of about 20 minutes ago:

ps... this is the nicest picture I have ever taken.... Had to sharpen it a bit, but otherwise, the colours are spot on. Hopefully I can keep this up and get some nice shots of both my tanks.

Lovely looking tank Jen :) of course it needs to fill out but the layout looks good so far. Glad you like the EC I've had great success with it too, but its £25 per bag here, so around $40! You get it cheap!

Like the rock selection too, why cant we get rocks like that over here!

This is super pretty Jen. HM is a great plant, it can do two things for you. It'll either grow towards the light, in which case it makes a very pretty mid-ground/background stemplant, or it'll stay super compact and small like it does here in this picture. I have it growing both ways in different tanks, and both versions have a certain charm.

Have never used EC and I'm glad it's working well for you. Very, very pretty betta, I think I've said that before.

The rocks are actually petrified wood, so they look like wood (obviously). I fell in love with the bin of it as soon as I walked by it. I had a lot of sorting to do to find 3 small pieces - those are all smaller than my hand, and the majoirity of it in the bin was 3 or 4 times the size. I just got lucky.

I think I would like the HM to stay compact like that picture llj, and sort of have it grow around that one rock. Did you do anything special to get it to stay like that?
