Hi.

Is it true that JBL CO2 cannisters can only be refilled through JBL?

i am jus making sure b4 i go and order one...

As far as i know jbl use there own size screw thread on the bottle but it wouldnt take much to make an adaptor.

It takes about 15 minutes with some wet and dry sandpaper to adapt the Jbl regulator to fit an ordinary standard CO2 cylinder, apperantly its pretty obvious which part to file down if you have the standard cylinder in your posession, so its pretty easy as it turns out.

I've got a JBL kit.
All i have to do is take the bottle to the fish shop, they give me a new one and they get that one filled.

Maidenhead Aquatics fill them up. Anywhere the stocks the kits themselves, should do refills.

I don't know about anything DIY :S but here in england a lot of LFS fill the JBL cylinders (either by sending away or swapping). But I guess being in Poland you might not have that available there?

This is the sort of thing im on about

Jbl have a few types in there catalogue with various connections but if you can find the screw thread sizes you need any engeneering firm could sort you out.

is it expensive to buy another bottle of CO2 once one has run out?

i will try look for the adapter thingo...and if anyone has actually tried the sanding please tell me...

thanks

As Houndour says, If you have a refillable JBL CO2 bottle, you just take them into your lfs and they either do the refill for you there and then, or they do a swap (give you another filled JBL CO2 bottle in return for your empty one. But not entirely sure if it works the same way in Poland. Just ring a few shops and find out what their procedure is.

So unless you actually want to buy another make of CO2 bottle, there should be no need to file or DIY anything.

i have a 29g tank...how long...approximately, will a 2kg or 500g bottle last?

cos i went to the site RYO... and those prices are crazy. I thought once u got past the initial cost of buying the gauges and the set...refills should be cheap.

I have a 20 gallon and I was running bubbles at just over 1 per second and my 500g bottle lasted 5 weeks (ran for 24 hours a day).

I now run it with the solenoid!

In england to have a bottle refilled or to swap your empty bottle for a full bottle is an average of £10. But I phoned around and can get mine swapped for £5.99. I think someone just posted here this week saying they found a place that will refill theirs on site for £5.

thats right, I found a local firm that dealt with fire extinguishers and I took my cylinders along and they refilled them for me while I waited.........cost me £10 for two 500g cylinders..............half the price of my lfs.....brill

oh. 5 weeks. I thought it wouldve lasted longer...considering how expensive it is. :D

i am hoping to get a regulator online and find a CO2 cylinder around where i live... but not being to speak polish is a Real bi*ch.
