Sup, here are my pride and joys...they aren't with me right now, they are in Nebraska in my 75gal. The male is at least 16" and the female is between 10 and 12" long. Great fish! Can't do anything in the tank though, kinda hurts...lol. First two are of the female...last two..male...the pot they are in has at least a 16" diameter at the mouth. Toodles,
PF

LOL!! Nope, can't do jack in the tank. They have broken several siphon tubes for cleaning the tank, drawn blood on me when i wasn't careful, and will challenge anything the gets near the tank. No matter HOW large it is. Indeed, they are great fish!!

Why don't you use those heavy duty arm gloves? You can get them at doctors foster and smith, I order from them all the time, they're great!! Here's the website... Drs. Foster and Smith~fish
Hope I Helped!!!

Hmm...interesting...i think i can live with out them though. Pretty much just gotta watch what you are doing.

I put in some balls sometimes, large diving beetles(love chasing them around the tank) and other oddities. For some reason my male is fascinated with glass marbles....he guards them just about as much as he gaurds her...lol

I don't want to change the subject but I know of someone who's oscar tried to bite them so they killed it in an ice bath.... I mean, isn't that what cichlids are supposed to do? Bite you? They also went on to say how it took 30 minutes for it to die.. :-( :X

that is incredibly disturbeing

but not all cichlids bite
i mean i have been biten my my africans but that's when i'm hand feeding them and the misss, i can't see angels or anything biteing eaither

nice pics

This is a perfect example of why when you get a new tank not to get a full grown fish for $50+ Insdead you can get a young small fish for $2-15. Cichlids grow quickly

16 inches wow. you must be kidding me though. the largest jaguar was caught at 16.25 inches. nice fish
