Hi

My Tank arrived Today, i was up at the crack of dawn waiting for the courier...9 hours and 20 cups of tea later  there was a knock at the door, The courier!

i am at the moment building my cabinet and setting up the tank, photos will be online when i find the camera lead

i can fill in as many details as possible (will edit the post later to make adjustments.)

Equipment

Tank Juwel Rio 125: 125 liters/33 gallons. dimensions 81 cm/32"long *36 cm/14"wide *50/20"tall

Filter Juwel Compact 'H' included with tank: 600 LPH

water movement Maxijet MP400 Powerhead with CO2 intake

Heater2*100 watt Juwel heaters

Lighting Juwel Multi-lux twin light unit. 2*28 watts of T5 High output light. 1 daylight tube and 1 nature tube.

Arrangement's and Maintenance

Lighting 10 hours a day, i might see if i can get the lights on separate circuits.

Fertilization i shall be dosing TPN+ at the recommended dosage and i will adjust accordingly

Substrate Tropica Plant Substrate 2 cm, topped with 3-4 cm of play sand.

CO2 im trying to achieve 25 PPM of CO2 for 10-12 hours using a solenoid once the Pressurized system is set-up, but will adjust accordingly depending on the drop checker results.

Stock

Flora

Cryptocoryne's wendtii 'green' , becketti 'petchii', X willisi, parva

As you have probably guessed i prefer green plant's

I know the feeling. lol

They will be on a double electronic ballast so you won't be able to seperate them without cutting open the I bar and buying 2 single ballasts

I would just go for 2ml daily to start with and then up it once you go pressurised and the plants start to grow a bit.

Ember Tetras:Hyphessobrycon amandae planning on keeping about 15-20 of this small shoaling fish. or if i cant find them i will go for micro rasboras.
Sterbai Corydoras:C.sterbai planning on keeping around 8 of these to keep my sand looking neat.

I would go for Shultzei instead of Sterbai. More forgiving than Sterbai on temperatures and then the temp can be 26ºC with no problems to suit both the Corys and the Rams

Good Luck

If the Maxijet MP400 still doesn't add enough flow then I can strongly suggest you upgrade the pump in the compact H to the 1000 version. Myself and others have found this to be very beneficial and really improves the clarity of the water also.

the only thing i dont want is my vallis (at the back) all being forced to one side, thats why im opting for 2 of these power heads.

Lol, i am on plant geek at the moment, ive spent hours on there, but if it wasnt for you and andy and a few others i wouldnt be here,

cheers guys

jack

ps. pics will be on as soon as canon send me a replacement cable

What do you mean by more forgiving? In that they can tolerate it higher or lower?
I only ask as Sterbai are the sp. most people recommend to keep with discus so are more than capable of tolerating 26C (and higher), or do you mean 26C is too low for the Sterbai hence the choice of Schultzei?

Looks like you are right. Didn't read up on sterbai. seems it can go 24-28. I just knew that most corys like cooler water and when I got the schultz I was told that they can go higher than most corys and are quite hardy as they are mostly tank bred rather than wild caught.

So either probs be OK at 26. lol

I'm still learning some things. lol

its only lightly planted at the moment, so i will add plants when i can get to the LFS.

as you can see im very fond of neons  and i think i will stick with neons, instead of the proposed ember tetras (future project me thinks).

im praying that the vallis doesnt melt as im dosing 1ml of TPN+ one day 1 and then 1ml of easy carbo on day 2 etc

im looking at adding more crypts and P.Helferi and some anubias and slate, to form a cave for the corys when they arrive (sold the sterbai to get some bronze cories) (also sold the ember tetras to a friend for more than i bought them :D)

I'd increase to 2ml of TPN+ a day and 2.5ml of EasyCarbo a day.
Keep us posted, we could have another great Rio125 on our hands ;)
