just enjoy every min of them, they grow so fast its unreal! take lots of pics.. give them lots of lovely food ( can be fussy, so a variation now will discourage messing about later) mine are having
JBL novo ( medium sticks) - then ill move them on to the large cichlid sticks when theyll be able to eat them.- but any good quality brand is great.
they love live bloodworm! will graze for an hour easily sucking them up
i`ll also introduce tiny bits of shrimp/prawn,and a MUST is peas- deshelled, at least one pea once a week.. start them soon, as most of mine have had to be force fed them when they get on a bit
also get them used to your hands being in the tank- try feeding them, you will get nipped, but only as they are so eager
but it hurts a lot less now than it will when they are huge
excellent water quality ( as you know) is a must with oscars..lots of people assume as they are big lumps, they dont need to be bothered with.. they do! over filter, reg water changes and you will have happy healthy gorgeous oscars for many years to come
and last but not least... keep an eye on them.. i woke up one morning to find that the more dominant one of a pair of mine had beaten the living daylights out of the other.. totally unexpected..if it happens seperate them straight away, they wont " learn to get on".. you`ll just be making the ( usually smaller one) miserable - common sense i know, but needed to be said
im praying mine will be able to stay together.. if not then it`ll be another tank and theyll be seperated- but fingers crossed X
as you know they are beautiful fish, and ive never ever regretted owning any of my boys.. what you give them they will give back double in puppy dog eyes and lots of love
you should have seen the colours on my 2 yesterday after moving tanks.. they were almost see-thru .. they do get really stressed and sulk and colours/ patterns will change as they grow .. but theyre not all as bad as each other
oh nelly
revenge is sweet my friend
