its taking too much time !!

Oh, okay....that's not what I call a sunset, but I guess I was thinking of the Platy coloring. It's possible she got it in her genes from further back generations...though what does dad look like? Do you know? Or was she pregnant from the fish store?

Maggie is very pretty though, you've got some lovely fish.

Why thank you annastasia what do your fish look like? Well she was in with only sunsets of what ever you call them but they were all that color I thought it would be imposible for her not to get a sunset mate.

claire

Heh...I have a lot of fish, and they all look different, so I won't bore you with the list, but basically I have orange, red, and blue Platies, and variaties on those colors, orange, and Koi Swordtails, a bunch of different "non-fancy" Guppies, and Endlers. That's just the Livebearers too. :p

I suppose she must have had black in her genes then, if she came from an all orange tank. Unless she was pregnant by another fish, then sorted out by color...I guess we'll never know, though!

You'll have to seperate them, even if you get her a mate. She and Ajax could still easily breed.

However, looking at your pictures, I'd say it's more likely Maggie got pregnant by Ajax, and since he looks like he has a lot of black, most likely he carried the black gene. :)

Hmmm....Are you sure this girl was born at the same time? Like you actually fished her out and raised her separately?

Or is it possible she was born a month later? Do you leave your fry in the tank?

No I put Maggie in a breeding trap and after the little ones were born put her back in the tank. Now that Stella is the only one left she is out in the tank.

claire

Hmm! I guess she must have been carrying black genes, or she got pregnant by a black before she got put it with the other Oranges. Oh well, either way. Maggie and Stella are pretty, and Ajax is gorgeous and they all look very well cared! That's all that really matters. :D

Not really. Regular Mollies max out at 4", Sailfins get to 6". They are normal. :)

I wouldn't say she's a Yucatan, though.

I just realized, I have been totally rude and taken over Shuhu's thread...I apologize, I forgot who started it. :*)

thanks Tokis-Phoenix

actually the LFS is paying me around $0.3 USD dollars per fish (not much) so that is why the number of babies does matter to me, and since I only have like half the babies left from the ones I managed to rescue, maybe is not worth it in the long run???? -_- and no, I havent actually talked with the LFS guy about a long term trading, I have only asked him about my current batch of babies. I guess I didn't consider that until now.

Anyway I guess I will at least sell these little guys to re-gain what I've put into them and do as Tokis-Phoenix said and maybe keep only the fitests ones from the next batches, just mayyyybe...

Ohh, and btw, Annastasia, it's OK, I know this happends with topics sometimes so I don't mind about it ^_^

It's pretty hard to make a profit off fish-keeping...usually I'm lucky if I get enough to just pay for their food for a week! However, if you are really serious, you might consider getting a dedicated fry tank, preferably pretty big, and raising a lot in there. Though before you do, definitely ask the LFS if they will continue taking them. :) It also helps to have some less common colored ones...my LFS takes my blue Guppies, but not the red ones.

"Sunset" in molly colors is different from "sunset" in platy colors around here, at least....

When I had fry coming out of my ears, I started bringing them to a woman who kept and bred seahorses. In exchange for the fry, I got various fish stuff from her.
