I have now came across 3 different sites selling fish/aquatic creatues with tiny environments, no filteration etc, take a look for urself :
'Minokubes'
2 White cloud mountain minnows kept in a 14cm tank all their life, no filter what so ever, sold as 'fashion accessories' for homes and offices...but the worst thing is their so called 'care' routine : "These two tiny real tropical fish only require feeding once every 2-3 days and the tanks need cleaning every 2-3 months"
Next case
'AquaBabies'
<--as u can see, the tank is barely bigger than this persons hand!
A selection of fish avalible, rosy barbs, tiger barbs, white clouds, danios, endlers, guppys, cherry barbs, betas, rosy minnos, fiddler crabs, and dwarf african dwar frogs. Again there no filteration, he tank is a ridiculose 4"x6”x5”!! and from what i can tell, there no limit to the amount of fish they let u buy for it!! Their recomended 'care' routine, "They can be fed daily or every other day and can easily be left for a weekend without food" and "The tank only needs to be cleaned when the water becomes cloudy and/or there is debris covering the rocks, plants or tank. We recommend you change 25% of the water every month". This bit is just crazy, "Most of the fish we use have a one to two-year life span and will not get any larger than 1-4" ....but wait a minute, the tank is only 4" wide! arghh!!
And finally:
'Grow A Frog' (u probably allready know about this one)
"You receive a rare live tadpole with see-thru skin" Well, i'm not sure but i'm guessing that the frogs natural skin is not see-thru. The tank is just 6.5" x 6.5 x 5.5" where the frog must spend its 5 years of life with no filteration. Their recomended 'care' routine : "You can remove about 1/3 of the water a week and replace it with spring water." which isnt as bad as the others, and "feed me one measure of food a day". I think this is the only one that 'could' be ok in its habitat, as long as the 'owner' springs for the biggest 'TUBE TOWN' kit.
Now u know what i think, what are all your views on this ?
