Hard freeze here Thursday night, last night, and tonight...no precip, but heavy winds knocked dead limbs onto power/cable lines Thursday, I had NO cable TV (music) or internet all day yesterday...that was rough, lol

Glad I'm off of work for 2 weeks...

It’s raining here now. There’s still snow but the roads are thawed. My flight was cancelled, but not due to weather. People are just calling out sick right and left

Minus 17 or there about yesterday. Plus 33 today and in the 30's and 40's the next 10 days.

Lost power at 2 am. all fish except my oldest Tetra look ok. House got down to 59 maybe before power came back on. Woodstove was still going. Outside temp was about 12. Windchill below zero again

We put a bottle of saltwater floating in our chickens water container and it’s kept it from freezing for three years now

next year. I had no idea. But the chickens did well, and one of the Barnevelders even laid an egg.

It's normal here now - -8 with falling humidity, and snow on the ground. The sea is no longer raging (though just up the street, a bunch of people who parked too close to the waves had to be rescued and treated for hypothermia on xmas eve).

Christmas always signals the descent to me - into the colder phases of winter we go now.

Just my luck, I have live plants due in the mail tomorrow. I'm so glad I paid for insulated packaging and a heat pack.

Update: I got those plants. They're anubias so they're pretty tough. They seem to be doing ok.
