Im thinking of putting these fish in my 55 Gallon tank, tell me if this would me overstocked.
Make suggestions too, i could use some help

fish already in the tank:

3 silver dollars (all female)
1 spotted silver dollar (male)
1 common pleco (unsure of sex)
2 blue gouramis (male and female)

fish i want to put in with them:

2 german blue rams (sex doesnt matter)

Yeah your fine....I would get more tiger barbs though maybe some albinos or green tiger barbs? Just I thought.

But your silver dollars will grow Big you know that right?

IMO you would be overstocked. Once the plec becomes older, he will over pollute your tank faster than you can clean it up. Tiger barbs can also be aggressive. What about dwarf gouramis? Or red honey gouramis? as for the Tiger Brabs, why not Black widow tetras instead? (Black Skirts in the US)

Thats A good point....but thats a while off so you have time.

Silverdollar_03....Can you trade your Pleco for a Bristlenose or a smaller version of a pleco? Maybe a clown Pleco or something like that? :)

ok, thats ok. ill just keep the pleco in there and see how big he grows. ill wait til the time comes. anymore opinions? give me some more opinions on more or different fish i could add to the tank. :D

Yes - the pleco will start adding poop to that tank very shortly. adding that many fish will eventually upset the bioload of your tank when as you say "wait and see how big it gets" he will eventually drape his waste all around the tank  like party streamers - a party only he's invited to. :D

Hi there!
I also think you will be overstocked. Your Silver Dollars will get VERY big VERY fast, they are not slow growers especially if you are feeding them accordingly!
I would definitley scratch all the Rams or all the Tigers....if you want the other fish in there. Not because they won't get along, but because it will just be too darn much!

With a pleco and 4 SDs you will already be close to maxing out your maximum bioload.....I wouldn't chance it! Could you get another tank if you want a school of Tigers and gouramis?? Then maybe you could put the Rams in the 55?

It's a tough one, but you will most definitley be overstocked for those SDs. They will need all the room you can give them in that 55 and adding 2 dozen other mid-dwellers is NOT going to give them that! Trust me when I say that SDs are "weenie-fish" meaning that they get VERY stressed VERY easily and if the conditions aren't right for them you will know it quickly and they are a BUGGER to treat!!!!!

Good Luck to you!!!!

im getting all different opinions here. i now have 4 silver dollars, 1 pleco, and 2 blue gouramis. would it be ok for me to add 2 gold german or bolivian rams?? i know that the tigers are kindof out of the picture. they would crowd the silver dollars too much

I can vouch for what Silver said about the SD's. I just had a very bad nitrite spike and lost both of my SD's. Everything else is just fine, but they had no chance. Be very careful with the SD's because the larger bioload could very easily push them over the edge.
