About 5 - 6 months ago I bought what I thought were 2 bronze cories. Both were a little under a inch. This one is now almost twice the size of the other one. Is it a cory?

I would have just thought you have a male & a female. Females when fully fed (and especially when they are egg-bound) are twice the size as males, and look extremely wide.. especially when you look at them from above. If you have the room, and you want to breed corys, consider buying another 3-4 bronze corys.

Even if not, to be honest they should be kept in groups of NO less of 4.

You may be right barracuda518. The dorsal and tail fin hook just like in the pics. Fishkeeper2006 I have 2 cories now a female albino and a male bronze. The laid eggs all over the place Saturday. I was planning on getting a couple more though as the two I have are just plain nuts and fun to watch.

You need to count the rays in the dorsal fin.Corys have 6 to 8 while Brochis Splendens has 10 to 12.Hope this helps.

I can tell just by looking at it, that its a Brochis Splendons. You can tell just by looking at the body shape. It is a young one, but its still easy to tell. Here is a picture of 2 of mine for comparsion:

You can see the 2 bigger ones are Brochis Splendons or commonly known as "Emerald Green" and you can see the smaller one, which is a bronze c. aeneus, also called a "green" cory.

Yep, Brochis Splendon. There's a type of corydoras at my LFS that's over 2 feet long. I forget the species. But that is a monster little cory! :D

No cories even make it to 4 inches as far as I know let alone two feet. I'm guessing you meant 2 inches long? :p
