When mine laid eggs, they started digging out "craters" in the sand substrate. Another typical sign is them cleaning potential spawning sites. Anything like that happening?
The "mouth wrestling" sounds more like two males fighting /other territory dispute, but it could be the early stages.
Really nice pictures, by the way.

they are not mouth wresteling they are kissing eachothers bodys and lips then
one faces one way and the other faces the other wayy (like top and tail)
then they are rubbing eachothers sides

I've never actually seen my blue rams mating, but I've always noticed that they will clean off a flat area (one of the 3 big river rocks in with them), then within a day I'll find eggs. (Until my kuhli s eat them, that is!)
Hope yours are mating! It's great watching them guard the eggs and all!

i agree that it sounds more like fighting than mating.

but just in case we're wrong, you should know to not expect much success with breeding them unless your tank water is very soft and acidic.

The easiest way to tell is if they lay eggs or have fry!!!! Any developments yet...?
When mine had eggs, I never saw them, I only saw the huge numbers of teeny fry they were guarding. But I ma lucky in that I have lovely soft acidic water.
