Hi I have a 10 gal glo fish tank, I have done the cycling and had the water tested, at both petco and pet smart, they said that the tank was ready for fish, bought 3 glo fish they all died within hours, told to empty tank and start over, so did it again, got water tested all good for fish, put two more fish in new tank , both died! I have a 5 gal with the same water from my tap water, they are doing fine, My 10 gal has killed all my fish, Any suggestions appreciated, I use a aqueon filter, api quick start.

How long did your cycle take?
Did you add a good water conditioner?
Did you add pure ammonia when doing this cycle?

Do you have the same gravel, ornaments, plants, etc in both tanks?
If not it could be the gravel, ornaments or something else that got into the tank and is poisoning the fish.

Did you wash the 10 gallon tank out with anything special?
Do you use buckets specifically for the fish tanks, or any buckets around the house?
Does anyone use the fish buckets for anything else besides the fish tanks?

Pictures of the fish and both tanks?

No they are different gravel and ornaments, the one with the yellow sub is the original 5 gal tank, I washed them thoroughly with tap water. Just water was used to clean tank. no buckets were used in putting water in tank, I cycled tank originally 4 weeks and added api quick start each day. the 5 gal fish are doing great, also added the tetra aqua safe start water conditioner before adding any fish,

should I clean the décor and gravel with a light mixture of bleach and water or something else?

Don't clean decor with any chemicals, including bleach or soap. Hot water and a new, unused scourer will be fine for most tank ornaments.
I started to soak them in a light bleach and water, rinsed them off now soaking in hot water, can they still be used? should take all the gravel out and soak in hot water too?

You can use bleach to clean things but it needs to be rinsed off well afterwards. It's also a good idea to put the rinsed items in a clean bucket of water after and add a double dose of dechlorinator to help get rid of any remaining chlorine that might be left behind.

Don't use bleach on the aquarium unless you absolutely have to because it can damage the silicon.

I would remove the gravel and ornaments and use a natural brown gravel (with no ornaments) rather than the coloured gravel that is painted. We had problems in the shop with bad batches of coloured gravel not curing/ drying properly and it would poison anything put in the tank. When the gravel was removed and everything washed out and set up with different gravel, the fish were fine.

If the fish are fine with natural brown gravel, then add one ornament and see how it goes. If they are fine for a few weeks then add another ornament and so on until the tank is set up how you like it. But my guess is the gravel is poisoning the fish nd should be replaced.

If it is bad gravel, it is not the pet shop's fault. It is the manufacturer in China.

Thank you so much for your advise!, I just cleaned out the tank. is there a specific gravel you would recommend? I bought mine off of amazon. I figured it had to be either the decor or the gravel. poor fished died within hours being in tank. any advice starting over again? thanks again Jim
