in my new tank which is filling up with RO water at this time, going to be reef, i was wondering if purchasing a uv steriliser would be beneficial for my 70 gallon? i am limited for space in the sump so it might not be possible anyway. bear in mind i am going to have a regal tang and some other kind of tang too.

I do not use a UV at all on my 100Gallon atm my water is clear apart from all the snow from my Byno Goby if I had a issue that required it I would consider using ozone or UV at that point. I dont see the point in paying for something I may never use.

if you have a hospital tank/quarabtine tank then you could get one. but then again you still dont need one.

there are advantages and disadvantages of using a UV

one is they can help with white spot, but will only kill it while its in the water collum and you have the correct flow rate giving long enough contact time with the bulb.

using it 24/4 can lower a fishes immune system and make it more likely to get ill aswel

a 780 gallon tank is too small for a regal tank. the very bare minimum should be a 4x2x2 at 100 gallons which would be alright til it was a small adult - then it would likely need bigger. If you keep tangs the best way to stop white spot is very regular meals and properly QT them in the first place.
