Hello. I just got my first pair of crayfish yesterday. Got my shipment after two days.

And one of them has molted today. It was a surprise since I didn't expect a molt this soon. But it happened anyways and the process didn't take long, probably around 10 minutes.
But after molting, the crayfish stopped moving. I know it's normal behaviour so i wasn't concerned. I just turned off the light of the tank so that it can get comfortable.
When i came back to my room after half an hour, i saw the other crayfish tearing a claww of the molting one. I immediately moved the molting crayfish to a different tank but it hasn't been moving for over an hour so i thought it was dead.
now that i'm looking close, the intact claw is moving a little. It's very hard to notice though.
now my question is is there any chance it will survive? If there isn't this would be really sad because i have prepared for a month for these two and one would be gone without even spending two days here.

The new skin should harden up after a day or so unless something went wrong with the molt. I'm not sure how long it's been separated at the time I'm reading this post. If you saw movement, I would leave it for 24h before calling it to give it a chance but the odds aren't great given the circumstances. Unfortunately, a Crustacean molting immediately upon arrival after shipping isn't a good thing. Sometimes it can either be triggered by stress (sudden snap in water parameters or rough shipping). It can also be becuase the animal was shipped right when it needed to start molting, with the shipping stress making it delay the process. Both situations icrease the odds of a bad molt leading to injury/death.

Thanks for replying.
I think it's dead already. The other crayfish looks healthy till now, eating the molted exoskeleton. I just hope it doesn't follow the path of the other one.
Any advise on keeping crays? I've learnt the basics like water parameters and food habits. But I'm not experienced in keeping crays.
