Is My Angelfish Haemoraging?

Thanks.
But upset as I told her to put the fish out of its misery as it looked bad.
Won't do it again.
The guppy thread was different as that fish would never have surviived.
You live and learn.

I guess the real lesson learnt is even when you do give some fantastic advice a vast amount of the time, if you simply do not know what the problem is or have no direct experience with it, it may be best not to suggest someone euthenase their animals.

Thanks!

Usuallly when something hanging out of the anus it bad.
I know I made a mistake and I have apolgised.
I did have a good idea what was wrong, but never heard of it correcting itself.
Was abit comfused by the title of the thread, also couldn't blow the pics up at the time to see what it was.
No I havent had a fish that is insides are coming out of the anus, but you do tend to see thread like this now and them, thankfully not often.
But usually the fish dies if something hanging from the anus.

This thead will stay in my head and maybe help out in the future, so i've learned by it.

I'm sorry Wilder, it wasnt meant to offend with bluntness!

I was genuine when I said you give great advice to many people vast amounts of the time. I'm sure you can understand my desire to ensure that the person who contributed just to make you feel better, realises the gravity of the responsibility you assume each and every single time you offer advice on an open forum which could cost an animal it's life.

I dont intend to make you feel bad, but I would agree that a certain amount of reflection is due :good:

Thanks wasn't having ago just still feel awful about what I said.
I have beaten myself up over it as I adore animals and fish, wouldn't wish any harm upon them.

Hey all,

Well it's the end of the day and my angel is looking fantastic, prolapse totally gone and all the bloating that was still there this morning has cleared up! He's still fasting in the hospital tank, i think i will feed him a small amount of peas tomorrow morning.

I went to my LFS to get some meds and coincidentally the guy there had an angelfish who had had the exact same problem. His fish lived and is still alive and well today.

As for treating the internal parasites i did not read the bottle in the shop but just took what the guy gave me and now that I've got home and read it it doesn't sound like the right thing... It's "anti internal bacteria" by Interpet, I don't want to treat with it unnecessarily if it's an antibiotic. It doesn't specifially mention internal parasites, have I got the wrong thing?

Thanks again for your advice and concern, and Wilder I was on the verge of putting him out of his misery myself, if you hadn't of replied i'd probably just have done it sooner so if anything you saved him!

Thanks again!

Glad he's on the mend.
Anti internal bacteria by interpet is for internal infections like dropsy, septicemia, bacterial gill rot.
No it dosn't treat internal parasites.
I would add the interpet med just to make sure in dosn't get an internal infection.
I will get you a link to an internal parasite med, you will probably have o buy it online.

Just to let anyone reading this post for educational purpose know.. this seems to be something that happens to angelfish I have heard 2 more accounts of people who have had this happen to their angels.

The solution (although still early days for me) seems to be to starve them for a few days.

POSSIBLY overeating may cause it.

Over eating can cause many problems.
Good luck, he's a little fighter.

oh stuff it, completely edited my post, no one asked me, just thought it best,

intially thought the response to Wilder was incredibly patronising and over dramatic, but upon review, its just a member communicating in her own style and it wasnt rude, and Wilder said she was wrong, so not much point me barging in

Interesting thread!

She had good reason too.
I shouldn't jump the gun.
I try not to now.
Made plenty of mistakes but learnt by them I hope.
Thanks fry lover.

Diagnosing fish illnesses is difficult, as it can be one of a few to several scenarios. The only way to get close to certain is by dissection & staining slides, even then it can be questionable as to what the cause is without a doubt. This being the case the aquarist can only start with what is most commonly seen, and work towards what is seen less often.

Obviously, when dealing with a single sick fish, dissection is not an option, a gill or body smear & slide is. Unless the fish has died already, you may not be able to properly diagnose it on the first call.

That is probably why a forum such as this is one of the best options for diagnosing a fish, two heads are better than one, three are even better. In the best of all cases we all learn something, and save the ailing fish.

Hello I know this is a old post, but my angelfish has just had a prolapse and I saw it happen, I fed the whole tank some bloodworm and as angelfish are they gobbled most of it up! About 10 minutes after they finished eating I notice one taking a poo and noticed his intestine coming out with it. The poo was normal colour. Should I just keep an eye on him or is there some measures I should take?
