Is My Angelfish Haemoraging?

Took a look a tthe pics but I can't blow them up.
Is the bleeding near the gills.
The fish is in a bad way septicemia and very hard to cure once it has advanced even with antibiotics.
Get you some info.
Taken from this link.

Septicemia- A condition where bacteria gains entry into the fish's body through wounds or the stomach. The bacteria can cause failure of the internal organs, damage to body tissue, blood vessels, and result in recognizable symptoms. This often results in internal bleeding, due to the fluids filling the fish's abdomen. Dropsy may occur as a result. The problem with this type of situation is that the bacteria is present inside the fish and safe from the antibiotics you would place in the water. It could be the result of another infection or caused from dirty water. Symptoms: Clamped fins, bulging eyes, red bellies, eroding, reddened fins, lack of appetite, and fish showing signs of being sluggish or exhibiting sluggish behavior. Treatment: It is best to feed the fish antibiotics rather than using the kinds you place directly into the water. Placing the ill fish in a hospital tank is advised while administering treatment. Check your local petstore for some good medicated food or check for antibiotics if necessary. Septicemia is fatal if not treated immediately! top

It's not bleeding, it looks like its guts are coming out of it's butt, but it's too large (i think) to be reproductive glands. Maybe if you look on the post in New To The Hobby you will be able to blow the pics up.

Thanks for helping i'm really worried and would like to put him out of his misery if it is his intestines coming out.

p.s he looks healthy in every other way and his behaviour is completely normal.

Sorry blind as a bat thought with the title of the thread the fish had internal bleeding.
I would put the fish out of its misery poor thing.
Are you sure it organs and not worms.
Ever had internal parasties in your tank.

No it's too large to be worms and it's red. Looks just like guts.

So you definitely don't think it's anything normal because i would hate to kill him unnecessarily.

His behaviour is totally normal!

Poor thing there nothing to be done to save him.
There was another post like yours this week with a guppy, the intestines had burst through the stomach it was so sad.
Just wanted to check as some parasite coming from the anus can look like mince meat with white bits in it.
I will try and blow the pic up, and get my magifying glass.

Rolled into a solid ball.
I would put the fish out of its misery.
Or try and make him confortable if you don't want to do that.
Does the fish look in pain.
No its not normal.

Fish doesn't look in pain and is as active as usual which is what I find wierd. If it's untreatable i guess it's kinder to just euthanize! I don't know whether to just leave it a little bit longer in case anyone on here has direct experience of this?

Can you issolate the fish so it can be on its own in peace and quite.
Never seen a fish survive with organs or parasites coming from the anus.
So sad.
You usually know when to put the fish out of its misery.
How are the other fish acting.

This is so wierd my boyfriend just called me over to look at him and it seems the "prolapse" has shrunk?!?! It's like half the size now and much thinner. I don't know what to do!

All the other fish are acting normal, I have a very peaceful community tank so he's not suffering in the tank.

Ok strange leave the fish for now if he's not suffering.
Keep us all updated might be best to pin this thread in journal as it a strange one.

I read the guppy thread. i guess it sounds similar but had another quick look and the "guts" have gone in even further. Really baffeled by this one but i'm sure it's not any reproductive tubes or anythign because it was just too big. Would love if someone could give a definite answer to what it is. In the mean time I guess i'll just keep checking up on him her. Do you think i should treat for internal parasites?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Your angelfish has an intestinal prolapse :(

The cause of it could be as simple as a little constipation which could be relieved by feeding peas or it could be an internal parasite load problem in which case it's unlikely to really get better and it may be best to euthenase once you are decided.

At this point you cannot be sure whatsoever, I certainly wouldnt jump the gun by euthenising right away. I would try to seperate the fish in order to monitor it's behaviour, feeding etc for a day or so.
If the prolapse has already reduced in size try starving the fish and then pea feeding, if the prolapse recurs or starts looking really bloody then I'd say it's time.

Keep us updated on the progress :good:

You don't come across it often, there not much info.
Internal parasites signs are being thin or bloated, long stringy white poo, or clear, inflamed red anus or enlarged.
I worm all new fish now just to be on the safe side,.

Like to know how he gets on if you don't mind as I thought he was a gooner to be honest.
Suppose they can surprise you at times.
