**Just noticed the title seems to have been blocked off. The 'I' was for introduced, I must have done over the character limit  **

Planted some echinodoras and vallis around 2 weeks ago, but they don't seem to be doing too well at all.

Some leaves on the echinodoras are turning yellow, others developing brown patches. Many of the 'brown patches' have a "lacey" look to them, where the plant has developed holes. Some of the smaller echinodoras I have (I have 2 different species in there, though unfortuantely I am not sure exactly what species they are as they were bought bunched with no tags) have got brown lines all over them, giving them a 'scaly' look.

The vallis seems to be turning yellow/brown and dying. I have already ended up removing most of the plant that I planted due to it dying.

Is this normal for recently introduced echinodoras and vallis? Will they grow back/regain health?

I have regular pale sand substrate and dose daily with 'King British' liquid fertilizer. I don't currently dose any form of CO2, though I was thinking of buying a liquid source of it. Would this be a good idea?

Many thanks, any advice is greatly appriciated

A few of my Echinodoras leaves did die off but keeping it trimmed has made the 3 plants I got grow really well. They're huge and bright green now so should be fine if you just nip off and remove the dead rotting leaves.

Also Vallis does sometimes have a little melt but I have never been able to grow it. Tried 4 times now and its always just died off completely, some can grow it whilst others can't!

Hope that helps

Cheers

Thanks, good to know it's not unheard of. I must say though, I am getting these issues with most of my leaves, is this normal? How long do leaves usually take to grow back?

I had around 4 or 5 on each plant die off over a period of a few days, trimmed them back and its been around 3 weeks to a month since I trimmed it last and I don't have a brown leaf in sight and the plants doubled in size

Sounds good, do you use any ferts? Thank you very much for the input :good:

I use The Green Machines own brand liquid Co2 and Green High fertilizer from eBay, its around £5 and you mix the bag with 1 litre of water then I dose 5ml in my Rio 125's

No problem, happy to help :good:

Will defo look into them. Didn't realise green machine did their own liquid CO2

Ah, I think I've seen their stuff on their site before. Haven't tried it though. If it's cheaper than the likes of EasyCarbo / Flourish Excel, I'll look into buying some.

I believe it's cheaper and has done wonders for my plants, weekly trimming on most things just so it doesn't get too overgrown :shout:
