Is Guppy Fry Sufficient Live Food?

no.gif

Okay I guess I can't add anymore fish atm. But what if I get a larger tank (like twice as big) would the guppy fry for food thing work then? Like would the fry be as good for the fishes' diet as the live food from pet shops (I.e. brine shrimp) ?

yup, guppy fry is a great source of nutrition and make a good snack too.

Is it not good to just have 2 danios then? I know they are schooling fish and would probs do better in groups but I also thought they do just fine in pairs?

My understanding of danios is that they are active fish and fast swimmers and need a longer tank, i.e. about 3ft.

fish48, I would find it helpful if you could provide clearer explanations in your posts.  Most beginner resources quote a ratio of 1:3 males to females for livebearers.  Do you believe this is not true?  If so then an explanation why would be very interesting to us.

When you have a small number of livebearers it is best a ratio of 1-2 females, the more livebearers you keep the less females needed  if you have 4 pares or more it also prevents aggression so livebearers can be kept in pares as long as long as they are kept in a large group you will also find the larger the number of males the less interested they become in the females what tends to happen is that the males spend most of the time competing with each other over females

Maybe I could breed my 2 danios when I get a bigger tank and keep some to shoal with the parents ?

look you need a shoal of them and on the possiblity that they might breed theres no gurantee so i advise to get  more.

If you had posted that info to start off with, it would have saved an awful lot of agro.

ok so if you had 10 males how many  females  do you need

Using that comment to draw ncguppy into your trap was a bit out of order, IMO.
