Is Another Tank A Good Idea

Given what I talked about from your recent video thread, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/431273-any-ideas-on-how-i-could-improve-my-tank/ , if you get this Roma 200 you ought to use this upgrade for the fish that need more space than your Roma 125.

However, even though it holds more water, a 200l 100x41x55cm is not suitable long term for the Congo Tetras and I would not put more than 3 Ctenopoma in there. Not to mention the Gibbiceps Plec. ;)

Ultimately what I'm getting at is this upgrade can only be considered temporary for quite a few of your existing fish, they will need something bigger in the future. Before thinking about new species, think about what you already have and how some are not compatible with each other in the long haul and how some are social species in unsocial numbers. It is far less stress on you and the fish to stock tanks as permanent communities, rather swapping and changing as fish get older and bigger,

Im seriously considering trading all my fish in for cichlids :/ However, nothing is certain. I will keep you guys posted with whatever I decide :D

A new tank is always good. I mean you need one for your room, your bathroom, the living room, the living room bathroom, the guest room, the kitchen, and oh the garage is always a good place for several grow out tanks! haha but honestly I only have 4 running usually. the water bills are more of a concern than the electrics. And you can always save by going non-planted so low lights that are only on when viewing, and low stocking so less water changes.

If you've never kept cichlids before, your 200 litre might be good for a small community of 4 convicts or blue acara or festivum or angelfish. These are smaller cichlids that are quite peaceful and can be kept in a community. But youll be able to see the intricate social behaviors in such a group of fish. try and get them small so you can watch them mature into large beauties! i'd hold off on discus till you got the hang of cichlid keeping. You could also try a severum pair!

Also your tank would be big enough to keep a single show type fish. Many of these fish are super beautiful and very personable and can be petted, and taught tricks, as well as learn to recognize their owner. A single male green terror, red severum, Jack Dempsey (or electric blue jd), or any of the other fish below 10" will do ok in that tank with just the pleco as a tankmate.
