Hello everyone, the great news is that I have cycled my 2.5 gallon betta tank (nitrites 0, ammonia 0, nitrates 0), however the ph is at 8. I was wondering if this is bad, and if so, what can I do to fix it? I know 2.5 gallons is not optimal for a betta fish but I cannot afford a larger tank right now unfortunately.

Betas thrive at a pH of 7.0, but they are very hardy and adaptable and can withstand a pH of 8.0. To change your pH you have to get different water, perhaps from your lfs. My lfs sells water, but be careful...it doesn't have a constant pH so be sure to check that. Do not use a product to lower your pH. That just causes the pH to constantly fluctuate rather than remaining stable. Also, it would be very hard to regulate the pH in such a small amount of water. A consistently high pH is better than a constantly fluctuating lower pH. There are other things you can do such as add peat, so people say...I never had luck with it, but check into it for yourself.
