Iphone/android App For Tff

There's still time for it to become only a fad when somebother tech comes along. We had touch screen ages ago. It started to take off then flopped. It could happen again but it's unlikely.

I don't think anapp would be the right way to go. More web app. A theme designed for modern mobile devices. That way it doesn't restrict it to iPhones/iPods all mobiles with large touch screens will be equally at home. And let's face it a native app would still need to go online to get info, it wouldn't use any native api calls such as using the accellerometer to detect shakes so there is no need to add huge amounts of money to development costs by having something coded in objective c when HTML css and (I'm assuming) php and whatever templating language incision uses will do the job just fine.

I am going to disagree with you on this one. I do not think the touch screens have "flopped." Have you seen the new iPad lately?

or better yet, have you seen the new device that 3M is working up? It is even better than the iPad, and is far more advanced than anything like it.

Have you seen the movie Avatar? If so, do you remember the part where the people were holding those see-through touch screens that they were walking around with? Well, that is what the new device looks like that 3M has out.

I'm not saying that this round has flopped,

but back in the early 90s I think, there was a round of touchscreen tech that was the newest greatest thing. That was a bit of a fad and died out pretty quickly.

So going by the past, it is possible for the same to happen again, and given a few years it dies out.

I don't think it will since this generation of touchscreen is a lot more advanced, giving more control, allowing multi-touch gestures (apple isn't the only one there, and I don't think they were irst either, microsofts surface got there first i think although it's never had the release that apple have given theirs. and wasn't marketed to consumers either.

All I'm saying is although I believe the tech is here to stay, it still leaves a lot to be desired in most circumstances, so I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket.

So you don't need to dis-agree based on that (although feel free to dis-agree based on something else) since at the moment no, this gen of touch tech hasn't flopped (and that's what i meant was unlikely).

And yes, I have seen the iPad, and even though it'd look great with my iPhone, my iMac and stuff, I was still very un-impressed, I wanted something I could use for graphics with good pen input, more like the wacom cintiq, but with the computer actually in it.

either way, my main point in the post was that we don't need a native iphone app, but a web app would be good, could be used regardless of the device used to browse.

The IPAD looks great, but it's going to be at the bottom of the food chain when similar products are released, it has such limited features.

I changed the skin on TFF and now it looks normal and loads fine on my iPhone. I set it as one of my icons on my homescreen, so now it is there whether we get an app or not.

A mod is always watching.... :shifty:

I can now wait until we have all our fish in the net. Eggs in a basket. Ducks in a row. It's all the same.

Don't even get me started on the iPad. That was a bit of a rush job IMO.

My question is; would this skin provide that? One skin that would work for many devices would be the best option.

Indeed. Apple (like most companies) make products that will be outdated in a years time. Apple is very famous for that. They take their same product and make it better and release it so everyone has to have it. The iPad is just like that, but there is only one difference, it's the exact same thing as an iPod Touch but it's bigger, with a faster processor.

Ive only had my iphone a couple of months - so i'm a newbie :p how do you do set a webpage to an icon on your homepage?

done it now :good:

I have no problem with the price or setting up that skin, I just want to make sure it isn't going to be the sort of thing where we need multiple skins for multiple devices. I'm sure as technology advances this will need to be updated, even yearly with one skin is not an issue. I don't want it to lead to several skins needing to be updated yearly.

in theory, that skin should be fine for most mobile devices (iphone, blackberry, android, etc)

but i haven't personally tried it so cant say for sure. may be worth finding a site which uses it and getting all people with different devices to go have a look at the site. and i'd check whether sub-forums are supported too since some won't support sub-forums.

basically nothing a quick email to the author and a couple of site visits won't solve...

just followed a couple of links,

apparently, it works on iPhone, iPod Touch, Android Devices, Blackberrys, and Palm Pre. which is good.
the demo: http://www.vastyles.com/ipb3/

if you want to try it on dif devices.

so just need to check about sub-forums, since you use them here, and i cant find anything on it.

done it now :good:

 I got mine in November. Still figuring some minor things out, but I'm much better on it now.

Is there any update on the possibility of this?

My daughter kindly destroyed the laptop. It is now missin loads of keys and stuff. I could always plug in another keyboard but have resorted to mainly using my iPhone. Which just isn't a good device for heavy browsing and forum use. Without a theme or app designed for small screens. I do have my mac but can't use it when I'm looking after my daughter because of the location...

Just been and checked tapatalk - looks like they are now supporting ipboard :good:

So, can we have it now please?

I just downloaded the free version to check it out and tapatalk seems like it'll fit the bill nicely. But then I don't know what replying or creating topics would be like.

I believe it's free for you guys to add too?

I will need to wait til I get more money on my card to getthe full app but nevermind. It's not much money ...
