I've attempted to do a gif to show the differences in lighting, so bear with it and let the gif load up.

The first one is under normal lighting, the second is the brightest LED setting and the third is the dimmest LED setting, which I prefer for the night time effect but the photo doesn't show it that well.

Comments welcome.

Beautiful tank and lighting, well done.
Could you put that blue lighting in a juwel tank.

Thanks for the compliments :D

The tank is the picture is a Juwel Vision 180, so yes.

How much and where??

£14.99 from ebay. They do a variety of lighting, click here for the one I bought.

looks stunning, i was talking about doing the same thing with my tank, you've just convinced me that i will lol

I was planning on going for red cold cathodes, but the easiness of buying that in a completely waterproof kit combined with how nice it looks (at its lowest setting) may have convinced me otherwise...

I take it the power supply with the kit has different settings on it?

Yep four or five different settings. When reading up on these I found that people thought they weren't bright enough etc but the dimmest setting is by far the most natural looking. Having them on with the normal white light also adds a tint of realism too.

Also, the shimmering effect from the water movement is pretty cool. Obviously the photos don't pick that up.

Looks very nice (tank and lights both)! I too was thinking about adding some lunar lights to my aquarium, and I think you just convinced me to do just that!

That looks great, im in my research fase of my new malawi tank and thought about leds and looking at that i think i'll go with it

Looks really nice, I've got something similar on my big tank using cold cathodes. The blue light replicates dusk and dawn really well. I put the blue light on 1 hour before main lights on and 1 hour after their out.(using a timer).

Do they dim themselves on some sort of times.

I wasnt even interested in them until saw your pics, looks awsome, well done.

That's what I'm planning on doing once I get some timer switches.

The set I have doesn't, you just manually change the setting on the power supply. I only showed two different setting to demonstrate the differences. I stick to the lowest setting.

Hi - newbie here (to this particular fish forum anyway) :good:

Anyway, if the dimmest setting is by far the most natural looking, would it be better to save money and go for the single but crank it up to perhaps medium setting?
