Indoor Pond

6x8 was the size of the building not the pond, the biggest sized pond was 6x4

In my opinion a 6 foot long tank is not long enough for a silver arowana, trust me a 30" arowana will make a 6 foot long tank look very small.

My tank was built by Windsor aquatics for a bit over £1700, for a final figure you can add another £600 to that for the stand filtration and lids.

Thanks, what are the measuremetns for your tank. Yeah the silver arowana gets to around 3 feet + doesn't it. I think it would look bad. The only problem is at 16 i can't really afford an RTG however much i would love one. I only can just afford greenhouse etc. Does anyone know prices of 10" peacock basses.
Thanks,
Luke

My tank is the floor size of your green house, 8x6' and 30" tall.

A 10" p-bass, if you can find any, is likely to set you back £75 to £100, maybe more depending on where you get it from.

Wow, that is big. You filter it through a trickle don't you. What size do p bass start at and prices. i have always wanted these but don't weant to spend loads on them. Are they that much privately.

You can get little 3" p bass for around £15 each, but they are difficult to raise at that size and mortality rates are high, you really need to be around all day to feed them little ammounts 6 times a day and do daily water changes until they get to about 6" and toughen up a bit, which is why bigger ones are always expensive.

The filter is my own design and has two seperate stages. Around one quarter of the water goes to a 30g canister filled with 25kg of alfagrog which sits in the sump, the water enters from the bottom and trickles up through the media and then back into the sump. The rest of the water goes to a tower of 4 baskets 3 of which are suspended out of the water to provide a wet/dry area, the top basket has floss and foam and the other 3 another 25kg of alfagrog. The base of the sump is filled with plastic ring pond media. The sump itself is a 100 gallon loft water storage tank and the whole thing is powered by a 2900gph swimming pool pump.

Does that mean 6" peacock bass are £30ish i am willing to pay that. How much was the swimming pool pump?
Thanks,
Luke

No it doesnt work like that, a 6" bass (which is quite rare to find) is going to be at least £50.

The pump cost me about £300

Ok, well it looks as if i better start saving and looking for peacock bass. Pump sounds good but i wouldn't need one that big so probably be a little less which would be even better.

I payed £80 for a 10" ocellaris £60 for a 5" monoculas and £100 for 2 12" pinima but you will never find pinima that cheap now.

A quick look on tropical fish finder found 3 shops with p bass in stock, Fishy friends in Basildon, Wholesale tropicals in Bethnal green (east london) and Sidcup Aquatics in Kent.

Tropical imports is a internet based site but he hasnt updated his web page in a long time so i have no idea what he has in stock or if he is even still trading regularly.

Wildwoods is under administration not liquidation, the shop is till trading and will be sold as an ongoing business.
