In your own opinion what is the best food to use for tropical fish?

So, I just keep buying shot glasses? Lol
No, just wash them like any normal dishes, rinse well and let them dry.

Soap is fine to use on fish keeping products. Just avoid using soaps that contain perfumes or anti-bacterial additives. And rinse well with tap water.

Is dawn dish soap ok?

Sorry, I just wanted to try and cover all bases. :)
Its ok... I have some mental conditions that make it hard to comprehend large amounts of information at once or to pay attention which can be frustrating esspecially when people think I'm ignoring them 😂.

Oh my goodness thank you! Just saw the ingredients and wow. Thanks. I will definitely keep this in mind.
The bottle is pretty big.
I have a tiny little nano tank so I've had the same bottle for years. I keep it in the freezer and just remove what i'll use for a few months.

Wait, you can freeze flakes?

Yes, as long as they are in an airtight container. Ziplock bags work well and you can squeeze the air out before zipping them up. You can add some moisture gel packs too if you like. Double bag them for added protection.
Never knew...

I just try different foods and see if the fish like them. It's probably my imagination but the ones made from insects rather than fish seem to be preferred. Maybe it's the gross insect odour it has that they go mad for more.

All fish I've ever had barring Otocinclus seem to go crazy for any brand flakes - but I've largely stopped feeding as they seem to leave oils on the water surface. I could be wrong but I'd like to think all the excess organics of pellets and granules end up doing good in Cory and shrimp and snail bellies rather than just feeding heterotrophic bacteria and increasing the bioload with no benefit of extra livestock for me to watch. Maybe the bacteria keeps up a copepod population that the fish will enjoy? Does anyone know if fish in a tank will mean prey items like worms and crustaceans are extinct? As I have only seen copepods, planaria and similar beasties when my tank was over-run with them during cycling, despite several doses of ammonia. If they are still there but simply at very low population.... well I like that.

I use a small old flake tub to defrost frozen cubes using tank water. It takes about 10 minutes.
As for dried food I use a variety, including bug bites, but my fish by far prefer Tetra Crisps. These certainly seem more 'hearty', and they are the only food that leaves me dripping wet because the fish go crazy and splash water everywhere when I drop the flakes in!! They don't do that with any other food.
