Thanks everyone, I will keep you all posted on the progress.....I paid a lot for that guy....more then I ever paid for a Betta in my life.....but I really wanted to start this line with a great pair....and my birthday is coming soon..... so my hubby told me to go for it....he was a early birthday gift

  Some girls want diamonds...just give me a Betta!  LOL

Lol. Just ask my parents. Every dime is spent on a pet. I was intending to go to Target but we stopped by Petsmart on the way. I didn't get anything for myself

BB, I have seen the "dumbo" ears mostly on halfmoon plakats. Some of them look pretty but I have seen very few that are so beautiful. My daughter is a fan of plakats and I am mostly on the halfmoon. 

 I am waiting for the right beauty of the elephant ear to get "just for me" as a pet. 

  Thanks for letting me know about the deformity etc. I thought it was just the way it is. Not a mix breed.

Those are my top favorites too....though I have only bred halfmoons so far.....I really love the look of the Crowntails too....and I have seen some gorgeous plakats....I am working up to that! lol.....my goal is a dozen 5 gal tanks....don't tell my hubby yet...lol

I can't trust the store's Bettas as they don't always take great care of them. I have managed to rescue them and brought them home. ugh....no more males and no more tanks in the house as we are out of "rooms" lol. 

BTW.....Im so proud of your hubby allowing you to have more tanks for more Bettas. I would love to see all of your fish.

Hi!  Right now I am in the process of prepping the breeding tank....I am going to be introducing the male to the tank very soon...so hopefully things will be moving along. I am hoping that this pair hits it off, so to speak, lol. My other option if this pair doesn't work out is breeding my yellow female with my platinum white male.....or vice versa. I am a bit worried as the imported females I have , both the plat. white and the yellow are pretty aggressive....I will be watching this breeding session very carefully!  Also I am trying a new picture resizing method that a very nice forum member told me about. My mom and dad just bought a house a mile from me so I have been busy helping them set up....so I have had a slight delay.

PS=yes I can understand the too many tanks situation....how large are your tanks? Can you make a divider for some?

I have 2 tanks that are ten gal. Yes I can use a divider for them. Also, I have two tanks that are 55 gal too. One 55 gal is for the koi and the goldfish. I am hoping that someone will adopt or buy it from me. I'm not good at advertising. ugh! This will be perfect as I can set up a planted tank. The other tank is with all the little fishies. lol. I can transfer the male betta into the fishy tank, but I have to be sure its free of ick. I almost lost the King Male Betta as he got 3 dots and I treated him in dip salt for a few seconds....put him in his tank and raised the temp. It was gone the next day. whew.......my "worst" enemy is "ick".  However, I prefer the females in the fishy tank with more hiding places and plants. I will not transfer the male into this tank. I did in the past and never had problems with two females except fighting over the crowntail red male. lol. But I read it that some fish will nips at the back fins due to wavy fins or flashy color of the male bettas. So I decided not to do it.

Becketlady, do you have one male fish in each 10 gallon tank?  If so, get dividers (or make them, much cheaper). I find my ideal situation for my males are their own 5 gal tanks, but sometimes for lack of space or money, you can divide the 10 gallon so you could hold two males. I put lots of plants against the divider on both sides so the males don't stress by seeing each other all the time....I have been blessed that I have never had to deal with "ick" yet, I hate to say that, as now my next posting will probably be about ick....lol.....

. Never know as its being imported. 
I bought mine from pet stores and most likely they got it from the same big breeding company who cant keep up with ick. 
Petco.....Fins and Feathers and I think Pet Exotic World too. I got my gold fish at PEW...caught ick and died all 3. I went back and told the guy. He owes me 3. Also, Mostly Petco have fish with icks and they are hard to tell before buying as they eliminate the deads and dying before the buyers come in. I have been going there and observing all the time and reported to the manager. 
Especially the Bettas, I complaint. Its better to buy the fish from a small breeders like you  and others that have not had any ick. 

Also, I plan to drive 1 hr to a pet store which I saw a few weeks ago who told me to get Quick cure and omg...the place is like spic and span. Very healthy fish. 40 yrs of knowledge. They save my fish with quick cure and gave me instructions too. 

 

either that I have to take a chance and treat the fish from Petco for a week or two to be sure of no diseases. Ugh! more homeworks and waiting periods.

I am excited !!!  Just put my female in this morning and my male is already making his bubble nest....looks like things are coming along.....thanks to my new friend on this forum I am able to resize the pics I take now easily .....thank you again for that help....much appreciated. I will let you know how things progress with this cute couple !
