obviously, it's common knowledge that bettas should be conditioned for 2 weeks before you attempt to breed them.

But i'm really curious to what happens if you DON'T do the conditioning? lets not talk about the size of the spawn (i assume that if you dont' condition the size of the spawn will be significantly smaller), but would it matter to the growth of the fry?

ie. if you bred a pair that was well conditioned, will their fry grow faster?

vs if you bred a pair that wasn't conditioned at all, will their fry grow slower?

assuming that you feed the fry exactly the same stuff, do the exact same water changes etc. Or is the growth of the fry dependent on its environmetn rather than the parents?

did ic onfuse you yet :fun:

i think i c wat ur saying and im not sure, i dont think it will hurt spawn size or fry growth but i dont think its healthy for the adult fish.

gl :D

thanks for repying :D

i know conditioning is important because the male will have to go for days without eating, so it makes sense to fatten him up a bit and get him prepraed.

the female also needs it to produce the max # of eggs, which will tell you how big your spawn will be.

So, does condiitoning only affect the size of the spawn?

i dont think it effects the size at all, i jus think conditioning is important in keeping the adults happy and healthy.

IMO...conditioning is mainly essential for the quality of the egg.The egg in which your newborn fry will form, so it's pretty important.

I see what you're saying and it's pretty interesting. Maybe worth an experiment :hey:

thanks wuv :D i just think up weird thoughts  so do you think the fry would become unhealthy if the parents were unconditioned? -_-
