Soooo... To begin with, I got into the hobby just before I turned 13 (I just turned 19 now). When I was younger I had always had goldfish in a bowl.. I didn't know anything, and I even had a betta in a tiny 1/4 gallon bowl  Not surprisingly, I was known as the fishy killer, and didn't have another fish for a few years.

So one day when I was 12 I paid a visit to Walmart and saw the prettiest little betta, a teeny tiny baby cambodian veiltail. I left without her but returned a few days later and got her. I did my research and became more knowledgeable about bettas.

So here is Atari, the start of my obsession:

A while later, I went to a petstore and picked up a gorgeous crowntail male (please excuse the tiny bowl, it was temporary):

My brother then got into it and got Redstone:

I did my research and got into the idea of breeding. I wasn't able to order fish online, so I couldn't get any awesome HMs or anything yet.So the summer after grade 7 I went to the petstore on a whim. Just my luck, they had a tank full of dozens females, all the same color! But then I noticed something... Not all of them were females, some were actually Plakat males!

Since I didn't want to breed VTs or CTs, I picked out the most violent male and named him Suwa. He was my favourite fish and so beautiful:

of course, I got a nice little PK sister of his to be his bride. Her name was Cha-yen and she was also my favourite :p

So I bred them. I had 6 make it to the juvenile/fairly mature stage but 3 died from silly accidents/my carelessness.

So the three I had in the end were Doll:

And Suja:

I also picked up my first ever VT!

My family drove to the US and on the way back I stopped off at Petco and got my first HM! (and then smuggled it across the border, LOL). A female named Sifari:

And my brother got a CT:

Sadly though, at this point I was 15ish and fell out of the hobby, my fish were gone. Then I started again..

A studly halfmoon male I got from a fish store:

I later bought a female PK from another petstore in hopes of crossing her into my 'line' (I still had the Trio I raised!).. Didn't happen

I tried breeding Suja with my halfmoon male just for fun and to see the results, but it didnt work out.. Suja was silly and dropped all her eggs.

I then went to a different fishstore and picked up an awesome pair of halfmoons. :) I planned to breed them but was too busy with school, and that sucked because I paid a pretty penny for them!

So I fell out again for a couple years and I'm just getting back into it now.. I currently only have one fish but I'm hoping to get more. And the bonus is I have my own giant room now which means space for all my future fish, instead of having them spread all around the house :hey: I even have space for a giant shelving rack of tanks, lol. The only thing that sucks is that I no longer have any of my old bowls (classic drum bowls! so pretty!) or tanks or heaters or live plants anything at all.. I just got a part time job though so hopefully I can fix that ;) Also, there's a new transshipper for Canada, and he actually lives right in my city! So I can pick my fish up straight from his place and skip out on the extra shipping costs I would have had. If I ever order any

I had to borrow a bowl and fish net from my cousin since I really had no money.. He's a lovely marble PK named Charles/Charlie. I eventually want to get him a tank of at least 2.5 gallons with a filter and everything, planted with real plants and stuff. And maybe get him a girlfriend, but his caudal is a little too big for my standards, but he is still tiny so maybe he will grow into it. Breeding him is a maybe thing, right now he is just my pet :p

Wooow this is long. But thank you all for reading and looking :)

Great post! You have had some real beauties! Too bad you never spawned that HM pair, they were truly drool worthy! Little charlie is just adorable!!!

Thanks to both of you :)

And yeah, they were gorgeous... If only I could revive them and breed them this time

I can't wait to find a nice male and female pair on aquabid... I'm waiting for some really awesome fish to appear, lol. It's too cold to ship here now so I can't wait to see what pops up...

I really like the last betta picture of Charlie flaring

haha Goofballs like me will get your joke Bleuet.

Suwa your Bettas were just gorgeous!!!

Wish I could have bred bettas when I was in 7th grade, I'm sure I'd have loved to!

Haha, yeah Bleuet, he's like that... He flares at my camera and my cellphone  He has attitude problems. I took a short video just today: Here he is flaring! as you can see, he looks at the camera like its his underling.

And yeah, I was super lucky! I did so much research for months lol. It was a good experience and I'm considering doing it again.

Some Beautiful fish there! Its great how you named all your fish and can still remember them!

It helped that I had taken every photo of every fish I ever had and put them all on my Photobucket (I don't remember the login info for that account though, go figure!) and I used the dates the photos were taken to help me create the timeline.. But yeah, other than that I do remember a lot of little details and names... I remember more about the bettas my cousin had around the same time than he did!

Thank you! I wish I could have them all back lol.

Sadly,my current betta, Charles, is sick.. I don't know what caused it but he has dropsy... Funnily enough this only happened AFTER I found and purchased a female for him to breed with on aquabid, and after I bought him a 4 gallon rimless aquarium and plants and things to spoil him with :c

Awsome Betta's :good:
Can you give me the transshipper's info and website casue i live in Ottawa, Ontario and cant find any good ones
thanks
