Im Blasted Fuming

ive just come back from a two week, well deserved holiday, somewhere hot where i could relax, of which i did but I left my 6 tanks in the care of a friend, EXfriend from now on who has over 30 years experience of fish keeping.

im posting this because i need to let it out as the anger is really becoming unbearable.

ive come back to this list of dead fish

2 male bettas (my little boss and stunnning Donut)
5 drwaf neon rainbows
4 clown loaches
2 panda corys
and i have now got 25 surviving fry from a stock of atleast 150

Boss's remains were in the back of his tank, i know it sounds harsh to say but all that was left of him was his spine
Donut must have died 2 days ago
clowns nowhere to be seen so obviously been eaten
the rainbows too had been eaten
cories flat on their backs
and the fry, some dead on the bottom of the 3 tanks.
i had left a female in her large trap to drop over night and as she had just started to drop as i had to catch my plane and he had strict instructions to remove her back into the main tank after 1 day, he didnt and she stayed they for the whole 2 weeks and looks dreadful even though she had a good time eatting fry that ventured up thru the slits in the trap

All my pregnant platys 22 of them under fed, loss in colour.

the only good thing that happened was my CO2 went crazy and the tanks even though with all the deaths look fantastic.

i confronted my so called mate to why i had to come back to this and all he gave me was a mixture of ummmmms, arhhhhhhs and welllllls. he then slipped up and said that he couldnt come round to check on the fish and feed them and do the frys daily water changes because the weather was too hot. im sick to the gut as a typical brit on holiday i followed the british weather forcast and i know it wasnt good weather until a couple of days ago.

for the first time in my life i am ashamed to say that i just wanted to loose my temper to the point of getting arrested.

I was due to spawn my rainbows when i got back and spent ages conditioning them, my HM betta was going to a good friend and to top it all ive worked hard into breeding particular strains of platy and its now all gone in 2 weeks and i have to now wait for my next drops, thats if they arent to weak to survive.

i just had to let how i felt out, thanks for listening

Sounds like it couldn't have been much worse. Sorry doesn't seem enough.

You'd have thought someone with 30 years experience in the hobby would have understood how important it was.

Damn that sucks.

Im going for a 2 week holiday in August and my neighbour is going to look after the tanks, although i dont expect him to change the water as he is old, but i expect him to feed them and thats all that is required.

Dam, this sucks!!!! I would've gone out and clocked the guy! 30 years of experience, and him being a friend, I can garuntee, he knew what was in your tank and what you were planning!!!

I hope everything bounces back for you!!!

I can never trust anyone that why i onlt ever go away fro a week at a time as the fish will be fine for that time frame.

But i guess this now means you have a chance to get some new fish..... how about some Red bellied Piranhas and then feed your friend to them!!!!

Your friend might have 30 years experience but is that 30 years of doing it the right way or wrong way?? a friend of mines has been into fish for 15 maybe 20 years and this guy hasn't a clue..

You should bill him for all the hassle and losses he's caused. It doesn't make up for it, but at least he doesn't get away with it.

The CO2 went crazy as in everything grew perfect and after water change today the CO2 reading was at a perfect level but it did cross my mind.

Its down to him just not feeding the poor buggers, hes old school 30 experience and doesnt have tanks himself now so hes prob not upto date with what needs to be done, he kept telling me that i fed my fish too much and once a fortnight was ample but I made it quite clear that the way it was to be done was my way and not his, hes one of those people who always think they know everything about anything. what really sucks is that i didnt even get an apology.

Im thankful though that my main breeders were strong enough to taken the starvation, fry come so quick, well they do in my tanks and ive always got atleast 2-3 drops a week.

now ive calmed down, im just gunna brush it to one side, before i end up on Crimewatch for GBH Im good at what I do and very proud of what ive learnt from everyone on here and to think that he did it out of jealousy makes me smile slightly as it means that for once he sees someone as doing much better than himself, whether I am or not, I must really annoy him so im GLAD I do JERK!!!!!!!!!!!
