####, I just managed to kill my biggest bocourti by overfeeding :shout: :shout: :shout: :shout: :( :X :< Saw them gasping at the surface then when I went to them they swam away, thought a WC could last an hour then an hour later I spotted the 4 1/2" one floating upsidedown with gills flared and mouth locked open wide.Found some peas were left over from the day before (saw a few munch on them and thought they'd be gone) and a few leftover flakes..The others were stressed but were still swimming and alert.
Last time i'll ever make a judgement, was developing a real nice red tinge to the fins and a blue sheen, 1 1/2" bigger than any of the others.
:stupid:

Yeh I guess so, they were all supposed to be around 2" but I got him with them, and he began to beef up.

Yup, I fed them in the morning before school so it was a good day 1/2 they were in, and when I swooshed the substrate quite a bit of gunk came up.What killed it is a lack of oxygen though, caused by the crap.

Wouldnt all the fish have died then? That makes no sense. Why would that cause a lack of oxygen? no... It was something else.

I agree.
You would have noticed changes for a while if it was a lack of oxygen. Fish (especially larger healthy ones) can actually survive a high amount of ammonia and low amount of oxygen for a while - it just isnt good for them in the long term.

1/2 a day will not do it.

If you had been constantly overfeeding and not doing water changes for weeks then maybe but it wouldnt be a case of just a mistake from one day.

What are your water param?

No it wasn't..
All of them were at the surface, as I said.
My water param are fine I know how to care for fish.
As a day (&) 1/2 and yes it can cause ammonia spike-lack of oxygen in that time, think about when children over feed.
I had been doing water changes everyday/second day for 4 1/2 weeks since I could not get any cycled media, I left the tank for 4 days and Amo, Nitrite, Nitrate all stable.
So bearing in mind it was a newly cycled tank IT WAS the food.
The fish that died had his jaw locked and gills raised, this can also happen to kribs when in transport/stress, so basically he suffocated.
I can't be asked to get in a debate...Lol
