If you had a 55 Gallon tank.......

A ceylonese green snakehead and about 30 guppies

Well you did ask  everyone finds different fish attractive so what one of us might chose may not suit another so it is best you make your own choices and then ask questions about their suitability if you are unsure. :D

I would do a heavily planted aquarium with several Apistograma, maybe A. cakatoides? Or maybe Blue Rams? Or maybe an African rift lake? Or a Wolf Fish set-up? Or a blackwater setup? Or even a mangrove?

Am I rambling? Or are there just soooooo many possibilities?

All that to say this... As CFC said, it's up to you and your taste. Find a good LFS with a variety of fish. Get the names of the ones that you like, and choose some that are a "must." Then give us an update.

In the wide world of fish, no choice is wrong, and no setup is better. It just matters if you, and your fish are happy.

P.S. Just have fun with it.

I would hat a really short 55 gall that was wide and long, and put a ray in it. Or get a normal one and get a few eels or an arowonia (dunno about the spelling).

You couldn't keep rays or a arrowana in a 55g youd need something nearer 150g!!!

With the intent to upgrade to a larger tank when fish size recquires...

I would put a leopard Ctenopoma in at least 3 inches in length, A white knife fish (pretty rare) of 4 inches in length, 1 apple snail, and a Tire Track Eel of 4 inches in length (all these fish would be of exquisite color of coarse)

four oscars and a bristlenose pleco :D

or

Lots of plants, a bristlenose pleco and 20 each of cardinals and black neon tetras

or

two dozen seahorses and lots of ocean salt :D

Hmmm I htink I need 3 55 gallon tanks now...
