Only one choice for me, Carcharodon carcharias more commonly known as the Great White Shark. The ultimate predator of the seas.

Anywhere up to 1,500 kg of eating power with lots and lots of teeth.

Also, you get to patrol anywhere between 1 and 1280 meteres of depth.

Edit - saying that, the extinct Carcharodon megalodon weighing in at 13 metres and up to 20 tons looks an even more interesting fish to have been (especially as its teeth grew to more than 6" long.) Some people postulate it fed on large baleen whales.

Cory: because they're so cute and always moving and they look like they have a great ol' time

Arowana: Because they're gorgeous, ancient-looking fish and I have a lot of respect for them

I would want to be a khuli loach. They hide in the sand and are always in crazy places.

A dwarf electric catfish would be cool. Cute as buttons, around 2ft adult size (so no getting eaten), produces electric current and doesn't need to bother much with hunting.

Freshwater I would have to choose a red tailed catfish ( I just love those cats ) lazing around and eating when hungry sounds ideal.
Marine hmmm lots of choice here but would probably plump for a manta ray and spend my days flying through the sea
