Ok thanx, the ones in the pic r they yours? if so are they totally aquatic?

Edit: just checked website out, it is really helpful thanx! im going into town either today or tomorrow so ill pop into my local exoctic pet store to and have a look there :D

FIRE BELLIED NEWTS lol.

My advice would be to go and have a look at what is available and see what you like the look of; then go away and research them before buying. I did that with my newts. I saw them; wanted them, researched them, bought them. If I'd not seen them before I think I'd have said I wouldn't like any.

They are very easy for a beginner to look after. One of mine stalks his tank and follows me around when I walk past his tank - personally I like he's using me for his dinner.

Yeah they are mine - spend their whole lives in water - come to the surface for a breath of air and every now and then "relax" on a floating object in their home.

I use reptile bridges to make random landmasses for them, a floating log, or floating fake lily pads :)

and here is a picture of my African CLAWED frog tank (ignore the fish food in the back ground lol - it is showing through the glass - FROGS DO NOT NOT NOT EAT FISH FOOD! it is in there for the feeder guppies - once the frogs are catching them its a sign that in a couple months they will be ready for their new tank :) )

Right now I have two juvenile ACFs in a 10 gallon. This is only a temporary home. They grow MUCH larger than ADF's and need at least 10 gallons PER frog. ADFs require only 1 gallon per frog. - quite a difference!!!

MAKE SURE YOUR LFS GIVE YOU ADF AND NOT ACF!!!

Check the front hands - webbing between fingers = ADF, only finger and no webbing = ACF

Alot of LFS stores mislabel them or label them only as "African Frogs"

Good Luck!!!

Ok thanx, your tanks look brilliant btw, im definately leaning towards adf lol.

So just to make sure ive got it 100%
ADFs have webbing between fingers
ADCFs have no webbing?

Just checked the thread and noticed you mentioned homing Newts AND Frogs together - this is a no no!!!
A rule of thumb is to never mix different species of reptiles and/or infibians together! If you home Newts and ADFs together, the ADFs will become dinner!

There is tank mate info on the website I gave you -
that website gives information about tank size, substrate, food, tank mates, life span, EVERYTHING! it is perfect for a beginner

Yea well, Almost....
ADF, African DWARF Frog - correct! Webbing on all 4 feet!!!
ACF, Not ADCF - There is no such thing as an African DWARF Clawed Frog - if you see this at a pet store it is simply a young ACF who will grow up to 5-6 inches! And correct - they have webbing only between the toes on their hind feet, their front feet/hands have no webbing. They are also chubbier where as ADFs have thin hind legs
