Id Confirmation Please (Rabauti?)

Thank you Jason! -- been long time indeed.

Hope they will... I love the fish (probably more already than all the other cories here)... but #1 reason is still to see Rabauti babies. Well, the other four species I have all spawned, so maybe these will too.

I am trying to figure out another qtank for a few more... being in a jam at the moment, too much fry takes too many tanks :(

How is your collection doing?

My collection took a major hit about 2-1/2 years ago. A really bad storm came through and knocked the power out for 2 straight days and I could not get to a generator in time. I lost 90% of my fish, including all of my loaches. I had some adult B. kubotai that I really miss. I almost quit keeping fish after that happened.

I have slowly gotten back into the hobby. I have a large spawning group of Regular and Albino C. sterbai. I also have a spawning group of around 12 C. weitzmani and a lot of juvies. I have several other species too, but I really miss the ones I had. It took a long time to build that collection.

OMG... Missed this... really sorry. Large Kubs are difficult to replace, and painful to lose, this I well understand. I lost one in my group (they had a major fight and it jumped out)...this was enough to spoil my mood for a week.

Generator is imho a must. I keep one just in case, never had to use it, only check periodically that it still works.

Well, cannot help you with Kubs, but when these Rabauti's do spawn (I think this is supposed to be a keep-them-well-will-eventually-spawn species), you will be welcome to eggs (I sent other corys eggs through mail before, works fine.). If you want bow eggs that is another thing I can help with.

I'm toying with the idea of asking the store to get me 2-3 more...he said he can. If you are interested too, drop me a PM (the store is in Queens, should be within reach for you, I paid $5 per fish).

Thanks, mikev, but no. I won't be too disappointed if they don't spawn. This year I'm hoping to continue raising C. weitzmani, and another small fish that looks like C. elegans but that I'm sure it isn't. I need to find out what it is. As a challenge, I'm hoping to raise a batch of C. brevirostris. Last year I got two from them and this year I'd like to have success with a whole batch. Who knows, it could happen.
Then, I'll still raise C. pandas for the lfs and, possibly some black C. schultzi. They are a whole story in themselves and I would be surprised if I can get another batch from them to hatch.

Oh, and I just got a batch of C. trilineatus from Coryologist. I'm looking forward to their fry one day. :)
