my 2 bala sharks and pictus catfish appear to have ich.
How can i tell if they do?
What's the best treatment? I know the pictus is sensitive, and i also have a BGK, so i know i can't use ich meds.

I think my three silver dollars may have it to.
they have a bit of red on their top fins and maybe a few white spots, it's hard to tell

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Whitespot. The fish will look like they have been sprinkled in salt. Or spots the size of a grain of salt.
Red fins can be due to bad water quality, septicemia.
If you have sensitive fish you only half dose. Need location to name a good whitespot med.
Remove black carbon from filter.
Increase aeration with the high temp and med.

55 gallon tank 2 balas 3 silver dollars 1 pictus 1 pleco 1 BGK
i know some fish will outgrow the tank and i will move them when the time comes
All of the water stats are fine and i am in New Jersey

Ask the lfs to point out a good whitespot med for sensitive fish.

Coppersafe can be used on more sensitive fish. Get a copper testkit to make sure you only add the amount needed. 1.5 ppm is all you need you could do 2. 0 ppm but for sensitve fish I would use less. Clout is also something that is ok to use.

I would use the coppersafe it's good stuff I have used it use it.

I have a 10 gallon tank that's empty right now,
would it help if i set it up and put some of the fish in there temporarily, if so, which ones would benefit from going in there

My pictus just died.
It was on it's back on the bottom of the tank for a while and then it died.
What should I do now!?
We used some meds at half dosage, as it said to for sensitive fish on the box.

If one fish has whitespot in a tank the whole tank still needs treating.

When did I say that I stopped treating I am still treating what else should I do

When did the red on the tips show up? What are your ammonia levels?

One of my guppies suddenly had red tips on his back fin. It was kind of a dark brown red and his tail tips look liked they'd been dipped into that color of paint. I began changing his water more and that helped (but he eventually had to be euthanized because worming meds I gave him made his digestive system go haywire). Unless your fish had those tips before, take that symptoms as a sign of ammonia burns!

the ammonia level is only about .25 to .5
Now i'm worried because the balas have red gills what's that mean?

Red gills can be due to bad water quality.
Also red gills can be gill fukes and bacterial gill rot.

both of the pictus died
now my ghost knife is laying on the bottom the tank a lot, but is showing no signs of anything

What are your water stats.
