hi

is there anything else except for ich/velvet which can cause fish to flick against rocks, as I have some doing this but there is no spots. Treated with methylene blue after removing all my plants, as a preventative measure.

Since I stopped treatment, i've even lost a clown loach and a platty, and they are still flicking against rocks, but still no spots.

I had a plant disintegrate on me when I was away and was thinking it could be related to that as there is still some very fine particles floating in the tank which no amount of filtering or water changes seems to get rid of.

Tank is a fluval 800 deep, ~100L, with a fluval 3+ filter, gravel substrate and some slate, temperture 78, water changes at least 30%/week, been set up since August.

Before treatment After treatment (still some MB present)

PH 7 6.8/7
Nitrate 0 <20pmm
Nitrite 0 0
Ammonia 0 0

Thanks in advance for any advice, as this is annoying me and I would like to try to resolve the problem before I move eveything over to a bigger tank next month.

Clown loaches are very prone to whitespot so i would keep a look out, check gills to see if they look red and inflamed, any signs of laboured breathing.

Flashing can also simply be the result of poor water quality. The rotted plant could be it. Have you checked for phosphates lately?

Obviously keep any eye out for the show of spots flaming etc as this will help you identify anything early.

However i would mention we have two gourami that are intent on beating up the thermometer and spends ages flicking their bodies against it almost as though they are scrathing themselves. They have been doing that for two years now and haven't got bored of it.

Thanks everyone, the replies are very helpful and reassuring
