I have two kissing gouramis, both with this same condition. Both tend to lay near the bottom during the day and act very lethargic. The one in the video is more severe. Both of them have a large amount of dots on their skin and are experiencing fin rot.

I'm thinking either Ich or Velvet,

Thanks Guys,

Aquarium salt? I hear this cures Ich (but check your fish is ok with salt)

What about Ich medicines?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
It does look like ich, personally i use waterlife protozin which will also treat oodinium(velvet).

Keith.

Well, this isn't getting better, it's a "WalMart" fish. I have been doing treatments over and over, it isn't helping. As of tonight, it's been laying sideways on the gravel.

I personally don't believe he'll make it through the night.

He's been going in and out of dead periods where all gill movement will cease, then reappear, cease, then reappear.

Good thing WalMart has a return policy, I'm just hurting for the fish.

you should just euthanize it then, end its suffering if it hasn't done so already

Well, these two Walmart fish have nearly devastated my whole tank.

They first infected my corydoras catfish, which proceeded with a red face till he died later that day.

Then my silver angelfish, which caught the finrot the two kissers had, and it had killed them.

Then my golden algae eater died for unknown reasons.

Then, it killed 3 of my five red eye tetras.

Now, i'm stuck with 2 red eyes and a chinese algae eater.

What do you suggest I do next time I want to put more fish in?

How long has the tank been setup and how did you cycle your filter?

Keith.

I had my tank for a couple of weeks till they all died.

And what do you mean by "cycling a filter".

Well, since this I have replaced nearly all my fish, the only problem I see is my blue gourami I now have is just staying near the bottom, is he not acclimated to the tank?

When we say "cycled", it is when the fishkeeper has built up enough good bacteria which colonises in the filters media to take out the toxins(ammonia/nitrite)in the waters chemistry. This process can take between 6-8 weeks.
Have you got a test kit?

Keith.

Can i suggest you have a read of the links in my signature at the bottom of this post.

I also have a female platy which stays at the top. Her belly is slightly bloated but not enough to notice. Is she pregnant?
