A female festae alone needs at least a 55g and preferably a 75g tho.    Most cichlids need at least a 75g and some even more if I was to generalize.
Whoa! Do you know much about Angel Fish? They were pretty nice looking.

...or are they REALLY expensive. I should have mentioned--money IS a factor!

;)
You could put a pair of angels in a 29g. They aren't that expensive but I guess it depends on where you live and availability.

Should they be in pairs? I found this Angelfish website and most were costing between $50 and $100! That's expensive to me.

hmmm, maybe I WILL have to rethink my stocking plan.

$50-$100!!!

I've never seen angelfish this expensive before. They are usually around $5. Are these angelfish you saw saltwater fish by chance?

Oh, I don't know. The site was angelfish.com or something like that. I'm sure they are REALLY fancey kinds of fish or somthing. $5.00 is MUCH more my speed.

*okay, I can breathe now*

Yeah, I think I will do reasearch into the Angelfish. Now, you said 29 gallons is good. I have a 20 gallon. Can I not get 1 and keep him there? Or are they happiest with a companion?

I'll, of course, do reasearch to find some more info on them.

My goodness!! Even for salt water angels thats rediculas. A lone angel will be fine in the 20, more then one requires a 30g. Since you want nice bright colors a koi angel would be perfect. Ill have some available in 6 to 8 weeks If my cats dont take another swim in my hatching tanks.

What color are they? So, he'd be okay by his lonesome?

LOL @ your cats! My Lhasa Apso is fascinated by my red male Betta. He just barks at him, though. My Lhasa wouldn't touch water with a ten foot paw! :D

Like Knucklehead mentioned, if you want to just get 1, it would be fine for a 20g. They don't have to be kept in pairs.

Okay, I got it. For some reason I was thinking they were like love birds or something. I dunno.

thanks again!

knucklehead, they ARE gorgeous indeed! I LOVE their coloring. Are they difficult to keep? Are they fresh or salt water?
Theyre freshwater and as easy to keep like all angels. As always do research before getting any fish. My pair of breeders are kept in a 30g. PH is 7.4 with a temp of 78. I feed a variety of food. To make the orange coloration really pop out I feed with food containing carentoids.

How about a Discus?
Discus are some of the most beautiful tropical fish Ive seen. But they take the skill of the more experienced hobbiest. They can also be some of the more expensive.
