My fish are gasping for air it seems from the top of the tank I changed the water, added seachem prime, tested the water and I think I’ve got two different answers as seen below the two vials are for nitrite and nitrate respectively in that order

Do you have a filter and an airstone? Gasping at the top could be a sign of poorly oxygenated water. Something that agitates the water's surface will increase oxygenation.

It could also be due to ammonia (I can't really read the test tube result) - or the temperature of the tank is too high. I'm not sure - hopefully someone who knows more stuff will chime in. I would guess it's not due to low oxygen since you just changed the water.

I can’t see a reading for ammonia..? Have you tested that..? 5 ppm of nitrites is dangerous to the fish, do another water change until that comes down to zero. Make sure you treat the water to remove chlorine etc.

K thx I just did a water change and I added seachem prime should I test the water?

A. As @itiwhetu said, don't add too much prime, as it is bad for the fish.

B. That's a concerning level of nitrates there buddy

C. Is it oxygenated? Is there a filter?

D. Agreeing with @NannaLou here as well, is the tank cycled?

E. Pics of fish?

I think I added too much prime then. There is a filter, I think the problem is I added to many fish to the tank, now I feel bad.

Hm yeah that might be it. However, now the problem is how the fish. I recommend you do a water change and add the correct amount of antichlorinator, if none at all due to the abundance of it in the main tank. Remember that anti chlorinator doesn't remove chlorine, it just binds to it and makes it safe for aquatic life.

Now, how big is the tank? Stocking? The nitrates are still very concerning.
