I Think I Found Out Why 10 Fish Died On The Weekend

ok, Bignose, I get what you're trying to say. I guess I'm just intrigued by what might have caused the problem to begin with, especially since my fish have been dying, and all of my stats are excellent too (no carbon to blame it on though). it's too bad we don't have any other good theories. Has anyone heard of Citrine? I have to look it up. apparently it's found in rocks around here, and it leaches into the water. Maybe Tom has something like that in the tank, and the concentration just got too high? In that case, it could happen again, right?

So, I read the first 5-7 posts then gave up. My experience:

I have had two bags of carbon in my 305 for around 9-12 months now!!! The same carbon as it came with, I have simply not bothered to replace it.

My tank runs perfectly balanced and i only water changes every 10 days.

My experience and yours match fairly well Tacklebury. When I first started my new tank, I bought a filter that came with a bag of carbon. The carbon stayed in until I found something else that I wanted in that spot in the filter. It seemed to make no difference when I removed the carbon because it had ceased to do anything positive in the tank months before.
