Not sure how that’s going to work out for them… too much competition for space in this community tank… assume Cory’s will steal eggs just as much as the other Cichlids… not sure about the Plecos, Oto’s, and the Giants???, a lot of fish to have to defend eggs from…

Sorry @Colin_T … I had a double post, so I changed this one… I’ll read the link though, thanks for posting it..

It may depend on who they kill. Cichlids, even mild mannered ones, can be ferocious in defending their fry in an overly crowded tank. Hopefully, the eggs get taken out by the other fish quickly, so you can look at the issue of moving the breeding pair to their own tank. Once they start, they rarely stop.

I haven’t witnessed any real fights, but the earth eater has an abrasion above one eye, and the other Electric Blue is staying on the other half of the tank… they appear to be taking over the back half of the Java Fern tangle, as all the Cory’s are in the front half of the tangle… the back was their normal hang out, but it’s too thick to chase them fully away…

Monitor and see how they go. they might be fine with half the tank and you can watch them rear up some of their young. If they don't go nuts, have a low wattage light in the room to provide some very low level light for them to see by at night. Then there will be less chance of the catfish stealing eggs after dark.
