I have 4 x 24W T5 bulbs Harry. All the corals love the extra light now (I just had two 24W to start with) and are growing well.
I have to say I think the tank is almost 'there' again. Everything yesterday looked pretty happy apart from the blue mushies (can't bring myself to rid the tank of them just in case) and everything's picked up well these last few days.
Still battling the backlash of red cyano from the H2Ocean salt but it is reducing all the time.
My next thing is going to be moving my scooter blenny in so that the flatworms can be tackled (it did a grand job in the Edge tank)
Hi Jenny, the tank is looking amazing in that last shot glad to hear it's recovering, I am always amazed at how robust some coral can be, I have seen some recover from being in a really bad way before.
I put my tank in for TOTM for january, could really do with your vote when the time comes as I am sure I will not get as many as you did, well done mate
All is well in my tank now...the blue eyed cardinals are spawning! The corals have picked up really well and ar almost normal now bar one or two sulks every now and then. The external filter is back on for chemical filtration minus the inline heater that leaked in the first place - shame the filter pipes are a different thickness to the heater as it worked so well, but I'm not risking another slow leak again. I need to find a black heater that's easier to hide and Im not so happy about all the equipment in the tank, but the sump will have to wait until I move.
Pics...
spot the egg cluster in the male's mouth...no eyes visible yet
his jawline is very pronounced
beautiful fish
wifey on the right hand side has a totally different jawline
this cardinal is one of the first ones I had that is so much smaller than the others
this hermit keeps getting stuck with his big old shell
Sorry to have to admit that the cardinal ate the eggs
He's only young I guess so still learning. Hopefully there will be more successful attempts at a later date.
Getting my pink scooter blenny this weekend
I now have my litte pink scooter blenny (deffo it's a 'he' as the dorsal fins are much bigger than Nelly in the Edge and quite a sight when he's stretching them out fully!)
He's handsome little chap named Toots as he looks like he's whistling to himself and so beautifully coloured. Here's hoping he helps with the flatworm problem. It's nice to have a splash of bright red in the tank and he's eating well. Hoping to start a pod culture off for him and Nelly (oh and Edna) even though he is readily eating enriched frozen foods with all the other fish.
Oh and I have bought a 4 bulb T5 luminaire which will look so much better than the two double untis I have on the tank at the moment and I am looking forward to setting that up at the weekend
Just got to get those extra bits of rock for the scaping, rearrange a few bits of coral to make room for more (I got lots of tank tokens for my birthday) and then it's all sorted. Oh I have to get some Tunze nanostreams to replace the Koralias, but that's it then until I move one day and build a sump for it
More pics of Toots in full flare.
He's decided to take a dislike to his reflection (I am delighted he spends alot of time at the front of the tank though) but that gave me the opportunity to catch some lovely shots of him.
You lookin' at me?
C'mon then, let's 'ave it!
I'll getcha
Hey, let me rest a mo as I get my colours right up
