I had a betta from walmart a couple years ago that would do that and the 1st time i could not see him i got so nervouse looking in all diffrent angles. I left and came back and he was there. I named him Houdini!

HAH!! OMG, that's hilarious! One of my boys likes laying on the ground like he's dead until I tap on the front, then he's like, "Yes? Can I help you?"

Hahahaha, that's the cutest thing ever!!
I had to take the plastic tube to the UGF in El Shaddai's tank out because he's getting little tears at the edge of his caudal fin and that's the only thing it could be (smooth marbles at the bottom and a silk plant,) and he went in the hole too... I didn't see him in the tank and was in a panic thinking he had jumped out, but then he re-appeared. He hasn't gone in the hole again so I blocked it with marble to make sure he didn't give he a heart attack by pulling that stunt again!

I had a Betta brownorum (different species of Betta) for a while, and the fish store sent me home with a little tiny clay pot he always slept in. He'd disappear for the longest time, then come out of the tiny hole (which was more than enough for him to fit in, though I didn't really think so at first). It was his home, and he got depressed when I took it out to clean it.
