Since the old folks have hijacked this thread, I am going to post some old people facts. You young whipper snappers need to go to bed :p

yeah getting old has definite down sides. i’m 72- my mom died after 10 years of Alzheimer’s. every time i forget something i hope i won’t end up that way. she didn’t even recognize me at the end. i hope some medical advances helps Alzheimer’s people.
on the other hand somebody said getting old is an honor. hmmm easy to say when you’re young. lol. i’ll have to work on being positive ☺️
The current science tells us to stimulate/ exercise our brains to help prevent alzheimers and other mental health/ brain disorders associated with aging. Doing things like reading, writing, puzzles, socialising, and exercising (walking, cycling, dancing, weight lifting, etc), all contribute to reducing the chance of developing brain disorders. And if you do develop them, the exercise and mental stimulation help to slow the spread of the disease and let you live a longer healthier life before the disease takes effect.

Basically keep moving and keep thinking.

On a side note about exercise and weight lifting, keeping muscle mass helps your body function better, increases bone strength, improves balance and reduces the chance of you falling down, and helps you live longer healtheir lives. Most old peole die from lack of muscle mass.

i agree. i do word puzzles. but my mom did crossword puzzles her whole life until she lost reality. “ God doesn’t give us more than we can handle- He helps us with what we are given” it’s on an angel statue i have.
not pushing religion- it helps me.

Brilliant.org (though it is subscription for most features) is nice for mental exercise. Even as an old engineer, I found it challenging to go through the maths.

I have 20 tanks, until the summer when 6 more go up out on the screened terrace. My regular 20 are in 4 rooms and two unattached buildings. I shipped ouT 44 plecos born in my tanks on Tuesday. I think I stay pretty active.

I think, therefor I am. At least I think I am.

Last night I saw upon the stair
The little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
Damn, I wish he'd go away.

Keeping fish prevents mental decline. Just ask any fish.

Over replying ? That's a generational thing. I'm 66 and was taught to always answer questions in letters when replying, that it was expected and polite. This new young generation raised on the Internet and social media do things differently . Most of the time I don't get it but I bumble along and don't seem to make too many fox paws. The thing that bothers me is the younger crowd doesn't seem to have been taught the fine art of joke telling. That, added to the fact that these typed out posted messages lack a means of injecting tone, facial expression and innuendo is troublesome. Ah well, enough of that. Time for my hit of Geritol and a nap.
i totally agree! misunderstood texts have put me in bad spots. even my sarcastic family doesn’t recognize. odd-

Colin- isn’t it morning where you are? being i night person - i don’t need the whole morning thing- sunrise overrated 😆

@Colin_T is right on ! You really do have to keep your mind active. I've been reading old books - Soren Kierkegaard and Honore De Balzac - where the sentence structure is complex and demands close attention. Being physically active at something that requires attention is good also. I'm not into it but I think golf would be wonderful.

There is a TV commercial here in the states that uses the phrase... "Do you remember when you use to remember?" The funny thing is I don't remember what the commercial was about ☹️
