I Just Got 3 Turtles Need Advice

I dont know if they have same needs as tortoise, if they do then they need sunlight for there shell, but im not sure since there turtles.

from the one pic with the head sticking out, I believe those are red eared sliders.

I'd plan on a 55 gallon tank in their early days, and it gets bigger from there to keep them happy.

Wow they said that little plastic tub thing would be fine for them, thats really bad advice.

here's my 2 outgrowing a 75 gallon hopefully soon going to a 300 for comparison..

Yea its a lousy pic... I was in a hurry.

Theres a few links to get you started. good luck with em!

EDIT: Something jsut came to mind. You need to either report the store, or notify them, because in the US, its against the law to sell red eared sliders that have a shell smaller than 4 inches, because of the risk to you and them with salmonella infections.

my friend has a slider (dont know what kind), in a pond. could you possibly build a pond for them or no?

Ok I just checked my recipt, it is does describe them as "Baby Red Ear Sliders"

We need to put turtle care sheets on the site for people who buy them when they're little and end up with a monster on their hands and don't know what to do with them. Not me though, I barely know anything about turtles, someone with experience and knowledge.

for the 3 sliders as they are, your going to want a 30g min. and thats just for how big they are now. if i were you, id just go straight in with something like 75g+

about how much does a 75gallon tank cost?

with or without stand? with stand drsfostersmith.com has an 80 gallon tank with stand for $1850. but that also includes $350 shipping and handleing. the dimentions or it are 50.5" * 19" * 69.5" high. dont know if you would want that or if the dimensions would be good for them because id ont know much about turtles.

omg i cant afford that

the problem I have with large tanks is that I live on an apartment so I don't have much space.

I currently have that little lagoon in the balcony cause its warmer outside and so that they can get some uv light which is supposed to be good for them.

The only thing so far that strikes as strange is that they seem to be in the water ALL the time, they don't climb up the ramp to the dry area.

If thats the case then maybe the best thing to do would be to return them or sell/give them to someone who can provide the conditions they need.

I don't know much about me paying 1800 for a tank. How about perusing through ebay for an hour or two. I found this, I kid you not, a 90 gallon Aquarium w/ stand for $5.46! They said that they couldn't handle it so they're just selling it to the first person to pay. I don't really have that kind of room, but if I wanted one that big, I'd fabricate it myself! Besides, I'm going to build a heated enclosure, somewher on my 8 acre property.
