I just bought a 200 gallon and a 300 gallon tank for just $100. Suggestions on stocking.

I don't want to give anyone incentive to invade, but around here I have seen large tanks go for a song. Smaller, easily carried second hand tanks are expensive, but the big ones are often given away, especially if they don't have associated gear, or if the boyfriend was really obnoxious.

I recently saw a 120 equipped free if someone came in the 3 hours deal. I never wanted to own a truck before that.

Plus I was gullible...
Maybe it is time to move Canada; if they still allow americans to be imported ;)

My "theory"... This is because a somewhat big P***** off event occurred in the world that...

That, forced a lot of really active peoples to stop at once and even more, confined in addition.

The brain doesn't work like that, If you're running and participating in wide projects and are used to 56 thousands, questions and adjustments per week...

Now what happens next is more time for introspection (too much) Then from it arise the sentiment that the less you do, more the time "wasted" at waiting or not being able to do anything.

Disappears because there's nothing to remember. So looking in the past time goes faster 3 points of reference instead of millions. Even the time lost waiting in our beautiful medical maze. finishes to count for what it is... Nothing.

The time on TV is the worse, It creates big eyes big ears and small brains without destinations.

The time and what was done passed as "Valid" to attain a destination differs a lot from individuals. Another reference to something we are caught in but doesn't really exist for say.

So instead of falling flat when it happened I turned myself on other interests that could spin my mind at low budget. So as a good self-taught educated. I did a master in Psychology under 2 years... That really changed my view of the world.

In general I watch stuff that has a direct relation with my current destinations, not to lose to much time, that will make it go faster.

Ok, end of the babbling....

I like to use reverse thinking. dumb example, instead of thinking how to eradicate an algae... I try to think what I need to do to make it flourish. The other side of the story always brings lots of hints.
Huxley was right.

The PLAGUE. It changed the world.

We were traveling in an RV when it was first acknowledged but we knew something was awry between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then bam we were told we had to stay put in the RV as the camps were closing. Eventually we wandered to a small park at the Georgia Florida border. It was a place mostly for people with horses and the owner had several.

Second month there she had a beef cow that was having trouble birthing I called her to tell her. About 20 minutes later she came to what was what and told me the vet was unavailable. EVERYONE was so afraid. I had seen this situation before on our local dairy farms twice and had observed the vet. The calf was caught. I went up inside and turned the calf. Not easy. Both mom and baby survived.

For the next four months our rent was free, and we got use of two of her horses and even a wagon.

We ended our travels later that year and have been homebodies ever since.

The plague changed the world, and it will never be the same.

We seem to be getting way off topic here. The topic was about my non-existing 200 and 300 gallon tanks and suggestions on how I should stock them.

Includes all equipment and stands too. Saw them for sale on Facebook Marketplace. I'll be renting a U-Haul tomorrow and picking them up with help from my three young great-nephews. Any suggestions on stocking these tanks.
I would check for leaks before you add substrate and fish because they could have leaks being that cheap .but no worries even if they do because you can seal them up with aquarium sealant.

I think we could cram you in the 300.
You got me too. I even showed my wife this thread and told her to look at FB marketplace for me as I never wade into that cesspool that is FB.

So if you had a 200 gallon and a 300 gallon tank, how would you YOU stock them? How would you aquascape them?

Did I already answer this? Can't remember and can't be bothered to look. So here it is: A 300g would be a Wyoming native tank: Lots of rock work, few or no plants, possibly a land area above with native mosses, sedges, waterfalls. An industrial strength chiller to keep the temps in the 45-60F range, gigantic filter and power heads for mountain creek-level current.

Stocking would include:
Yellowstone cutthroat trout

Plains Killifish

Mottled Sculpin

A school of silver minnows--there are a ton of different species and they all pretty much look the same. :)

Maybe some long nose dace: Not the greatest looking fish, but great personalities.

If I did a Paludarium with a land area:
a herd of boreal chorus frogs

or, if the land area turned out being more of a desert enviro, some sagebrush lizards.

There, wouldn't that be a lovely tank? It's so fun to dream...

Mottled sculpins are so fun to catch I love finding them in the rivers here

definitely would do a reef, ton of live rock and a ton of coral. clownfish, blennys, damselfish, shrimp etc. lots of cool critters you can have in a big reef.
