Sorry for your fish... imagine living in a sealed room with plants to filter the air and process your waste. Even natural bodies of water get cleaned out.

Glad your fish are fine at least.

I trust that you realize that the no water change since last year was a bit of a joke as it is a new year as of midnight...

Lol, that went over my head...it too late/early for my alcohol dipped brain cells...

Happy New Year :flushem:
LOL! I liked the alcohol reference. I'm 68 years old and many think I'm in my late 40's. My usual response is that alcohol is a good preservative.

I haven't done a water change since last year either... Glad my fish are ok... 😂

Ever heard of this prank call where this guy on New Year's Eve calls a pizza place late at night and then when it got delivered past 12am, he's like: "It took you till next tear to deliver a pizza" 😂
I love that

I haven't done a single water change since last year and all my fish are fine. Balance, you know.

Six days til the next one.

Happy New Year.
Hi Gary...

Some species are very adaptive and as long as the water chemistry changes very gradually, they can live for quite some time. Plants have a lot to do with it. I've kept small tanks with specific house plants in them for several years with no water changes. I just replaced the water lost to evaporation with distilled water. The plants take in nitrogen from the fish waste, so the water chemistry stays steady and the fish remain healthy.
