I have Mollies and have added salt to tank

Guppies? I'd say all male, but I worry your Mollies might be aggressive with them and their tails. I wouldn't get male and female Guppies, because they have fry like there is no tomorrow! Male Platies could be nice though...it all depends how aggressive your Mollies turn out to be, though.

Cories would be a pretty safe bet, seeing as they don't occupy the same level. But all the salt has to be out of the water first. :)

Would Platies be ok in the salted water (have put in 24 teaspoons ie 1 tsp per gallon)

Not yet. Give it a couple weeks so the salt can come down with your water changes, then they should be fine. They are tough little guys. :)

yes i do it and i live in the USA. and i have the same problem at my LFS, the guy there does not know the difference between a hamster and a guppy. (they both make lots of babies and thats all he knows)

Great! I realise I am fast becoming the Forum pest and its gone midnight in London and need my bed BUT when you have moment perhaps you would just do me a little suggestion list. I am going through a new tank set up so wont add any for another 2 weeks so no mad rush. Bearing in mind I will hopefully have still got my 3 mollies (fingers crossed) - would really appreciate it thanks Annastasia

I know its bad really! I seem to be more clued up and i have been only doing this a week! I cannot believe they gave me 3 males and a female - what doughnuts! Anyway as I am a new set up I will leave it just with the 3 boys, try and reduce the water and go for platies and cories in 3 weeks times.

Aww, nobody bugs me, so don't even worry about being a pest. Ask away!

I'd say:

Livebearers
Male Platies
Female Platies (Be aware they can store sperm and can have 7 batches without a male...so you will probably have fry)
Maybe Female Guppies (Same as above)

Tetras
Glowlights
Cardinals
Neons (Need mature tank, at least 12 weeks old)
Rummynose

I'll think of more Tetras after dinner...but these fish need at least 6 of their own kind, seeing as they are schooling fish.

Catfish
Bristlenose Pleco (Will clean algae)
Cories (Any type except Pandas, they are very fragile.)

Danios
Zebra Danios
Leopard Danios

Gouramis
Dwarf
Honey

Rams might be okay..you could have a pair, but then can become aggressive if they are spawning. Might want to skip those for now.

Hmm...let me think more. Those are just some fish that come to mind, there are tons others. But do you want maybe a school of fish? Or an individual fish? or what? :)

You are brilliant! I would like as much variety as my 24g tank can take but obviously want all my fish to be happy little swimmers so will totally go by your recommendation as i trust you guys more than any LFS kid!

what mix have you got/getting?

I have in one tank every type of livebearer there is and no problems yet except for my little guppy that had an attitude problem. my other tank has angels and a clown knife in it.

Okay, well, not all the fish I listed there will work together...okay, variety. I'd say maybe a Dwarf Gourami (Male) though make sure your Mollies are not aggressive first. Perhaps a small school of Tetras (Maybe instead of the Gourami). And the Cories.

I love angelfish - are the ok to put with Mollies?

I have even had crabs in with them and they are fun! :)

Have to be careful though, most things I've read and heard have said that crabs can grow up and eat your fish... :/

Edit: Yes, they are okay with Mollies...but if you put them in that tank, they'd be crowded. They need at least 18" in height, and the Mollies plus them would msot likely overstock your tank. Angels can reach 8" in height...and then you have to count in thier body. I say no-go in your tank, sorry. :X
