I think he's full of it if he knows it will go in with your Oscar ok. Noone can possibly know until you try it.

Fish change once you move them from one tank to another and add other fish into the equation.

Either way gratz. Wouldn't you want to get a baby one though and let it grow out and be able to keep it longer?

i think i might leave it. the guy seems to be trying to force the sale, and i dont want to jepordize my Oscar, he means to much to me :)

If you do want a flowerhorn, i'd buy one roughly the same size as your oscar, and see how it goes. Im sure that if you ask the people you bought it from that if it doesnt work out can you bring it back, they'd be ok with it. aslong as its not beaten up in any way.

Good call.

I wasn't trying to sound too harsh and I could definitely be wrong but it sounded to me like a guy telling you what you want to hear and then you get it home and all heck breaks loose. I know how badly you want a flowerhorn so I just wanted to be honest.

OI stop it, Jambo is looking like the odd one out here with all these blonde oscars around him lol

my lfs had a tank full of baby ones in there today,oh i wish i had a spare huge tank :(

i think you are right, yes of course the guy wants him rehomed asap but as peter said if theres pushyness going on then i would walk away, for all he knows the guy may have a beaten up oscar already :(

but your call :)

the flowerhorn is very pretty though!!

if i had a spare tank, i wouldnt even consider it, he would be mine, but i dont have a tank that could accomoate a 12" flowerhorn if he didnt like sushi

i have to say i have seen him and hes very handsome, and i know you said you were worried about getting a "minger" from the lfs, well do what someone else suggested and ask if you can return him should there be any problems, if he says no then i would be tempted to leave it, but then again can you expect him to say yes... dilema

I never really thought about it before......

Ive wanted a flowerhorn so bad...but now...im full of worry and thinking of walking away,

i must really care about Sushi thats for sure.

lol I hear ya. It's great that you are taking your time doing this though. Much respect for that.

BTW, how big is your oscar?

You'll have this problem with every Flowerhorn you try to add, I was just hesitant because the guy said he was sure it would be a good fit. That made me wonder if he cared about his fish or the sales is all. Like I said, I could be wrong.

The larger (more mature) fish you get the more set in his ways he will be. If he grew up i a tank solo is when you really need to be careful. they're a LOT harder to get tankmates for but it CAN be done sometimes easier than others and sometimes with loss of life or just a few battle scars. it's a crapshoot.

just be careful if anyone guarantees you anything because there are none in this hobby lol

your gonna be awake all night thinking this thru, and when you find out its sold you`ll be gutted, even tho i suspect it would be for the best

oh hes just told me he has 2 12" flowerhorns and 7 6-7" fish in a 260 ltr tank (i asked if my current 50 gallon would house him until the new tank comes next month)

jeez i feel for them, they must be sitting on top of each other
