Okay, i want to do a fishless cycle, but i'm concern about the water. If i use water from my kitchen sink could i just leave as it is and add ammonia in with it or is it best to put in like dechlorinator water conditioner before i can put in ammonia? If i put in dechlorinator can i still put in the ammonia with it or do i have to wait a couple of week for the water to be pure so that i can start adding ammonia, because i don't want to wait for a long time.
Help is appreciated. Thanks A Whole BUNCH!!

Dechlorinators work very fast as they're also used when you want to do a water change (you don't want water lying in buckets around the house for a couple of weeks :p ) so if you add the dechlorinator and wait a few minutes you'll be fine to start add the ammonia. Word of warning, when you buy your dechlorinator just make sure you buy a basic one and not one that reduces ammonia etc :D

yes, true. I second lithril. A dechlorinator is nessesary, although the other method takes longer. Just add the normal water to tank, or buckets ready to put in tank, then add dechlorinator and pour in. After all the setup, just the ammonia dding once in a while starts.

I dont see any reason why you would actually need dechlorinator. Chlorine evaporates out of the water within 24 hours, so just fill the tank with water and pour in the ammonia. Be warned though, speaking from personal experience here you MUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FAIRLY CAREFULLY--- if you forget one day, or add to much one time, it will totally mess the system up and youll be doing a 3 week cycle instead of a 10-day cycle

Chlorine evaporates but there have been talks that some water companies also add chloramine which I don't think will flash off, also most dechlorinators will help remove heavy metals etc which can poison fish.

Second Piranha45 though, be careful how much ammonia you add, I've been adding industrial strenght from work to my tank and over did it, ended up with nitrites and nitrates off the chart, gonna take a few more days than originally necessary.
