in our PAH i picked up a new lighting set up set...you screw it to the inside of these plastic lids. comes with bulb and all. PROBLEM SOLVED
 
OH and he is beautiful!!

Can't remember if I've mentioned it in this thread or not, but my Vader does like to play in the flow - I think as long as you have a quiet area for him it will be ok.

Yes you could buy those clip on light units, however I do recommend you keep a lid on the tank, as bettas are jumpers.

The backing is actually just paint! As for my other tanks, bought a Crown tester (with built in sponge) from B&Q for £1.49, two coats and it's sorted.

Yes, Surrey in the UK. Thanks but I should be able to get some from my other lfs - the one I went to last week just doesn't seem to stock them.

Bubblenests are a great site although they have nothing to do with how the betta is feeling or whether he is happy or not.  I love the way the reflections are making the neat pics.
